Introduction
Do you have a friend or an associate who is a victim of the unemployed persons in the society due to the shortcomings of the nature? What could be the problem behind this? And what could be the possible solution for this? The following are some of the suggestions for this menace;
- Unavailability of higher education to minorities
- Employer discrimination.
Unavailability of higher education to minorities
The minority group in the society doesn’t get the necessary exposure to higher education. This sets their expectations and their goals at a lower angle. Higher education provides a learner with better equipped first hand tactics on how to be a first class employee of a given company. Some of the strategic approaches to this problem include;
- Setting out educational standards that accommodate all the groups in the society.
- Ensuring that all the higher education facilities are free from racism (DeSilver 2013).
- Giving everyone in the society a chance to equip themselves with higher educational standards (Robinson 2012).
Employer discrimination
Not all employers of huge firms are good employers. Some of these companies discriminate against the minority group in the society. They offer casual jobs to this category of people. Despite the excellence and appropriate qualifications from the minority group, most of the managers in the big organizations still offer low quality or no job to the minority group in the society. An affirmative action to avert this problem should be devolved in the following ways;
- Employers should give everyone a chance to work for any organization irrespective of his status in the society.
- Qualifications and experience should only be considered when employing new staff members, and not the status that an individual holds in the society (Graham et al 2011).
- Any person seeking for employment should not be discriminated against colour or race. Employment should be equal to all (US Bureau of Labour Statistics 2014).
Conclusion
- Unemployment among the minority group in the society isn’t caused by inability to work; rather, it is due to the discrimination of the minority in the society.
- Unemployment among the minority should be solved by involving all the stakeholders in the decision making process.
