Another year has passed. Year 2010 left a mark in my life. To date, this has been the worst year of my life.
As they say, people come and go. My sister migrated to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada last July 2010 while my grandmother past away few weeks after. It’s been emotional too as I have been depressed for almost eight months now. Too many frustrations, failed relationships, a lot of indecisive verdicts – Did not meet everybody’s expectations. I’ve been searching for too long. I keep on reinventing myself thinking I would be better each time I change myself. I thought I needed change but what I needed was a proper motivation to constantly improve myself. I was in a rush to improve my game, to improve my standing in the professional world but as a result, I failed once again.
As everybody lost their confidence and totally gave up on me, one person did not stop believing on what more I can give. I want to take this opportunity to thank my sister, Tina for always being there for me despite the distance. Although I lost on a lot of opportunities, I don’t want to stop hoping and believing that I will make it someday. For now, maybe I won’t be able to reach for my dreams but slowly I’m building up my momentum to finish my goals.
This year isn't solely worse, but I have a fair share of success too. I passed the licensure exam for Pharmacists; graduated with honors and I was able to look for a decent job.
As this year comes to a close, I just want to start the New Year right. I want to be emotionally stronger. I need to work not just harder but smarter, as well. On June, hopefully I will go back to school to pursue graduate school. I want to also continue practicing my profession for at least 2 more years before I shift to another career - Medicine.
Along with my journey to be at my best, I have my seven mini goals to achieve: (1) to live a healthier lifestyle. I plan to enroll formally in a gym proximate to the office from January and I want to see improvements until December 2011. As much as possible no pork, less chicken (which I really love), more vegetables, fewer sweets (especially chocolates) with more discipline, no setbacks, no more couch potato moments. (2) To garner more experience in the pharmaceutical industry. I want to be more aggressive yet consistent on my job in the regulatory setting. I’ll be more vigilant in asking more questions if I don’t know what I’m doing or if I’m new on a certain task. (3) To be more optimistic and to be more open-minded on things. I’ll have fewer expectations, less talk, and more actions. Optimism will play the most in this goal. I’ll have to always look on the brighter side instead of complaining and whining and lastly to always look for other options. (4) To travel more often to places I really want to visit and to spend time with my family more often. My goal is to travel with them once again overseas if given the opportunity. I’m personally eyeing on Europe because I really want to visit Paris, France. (5) To be less hot – tempered person. I actually started today – January 1, 2011. I was able to maintain my composure. I just smiled the whole day. (6) To save more with my money. I need proper investment. There shouldn’t be more unnecessary shopaholic moments as much as possible. (7) Last but not the least; I want to search for real and unconditional love. I know it’s difficult but should I just wait? I guess I have to do my move, as well.
It all boils down to one word to be able to accomplish all of these mini goals – Discipline. Discipline for me is a quality needed to be able to choose the right decisions in the most critical times at the same time to be able to resist temptations on doing something irrelevant and irrational. Discipline would not work if you only focus on big details. Sometimes, we crave for too much recognition, and although positive attention is ideal, we should always learn how to control our emotions and be disciplined. Try yoga and exercise. These activities may help you achieve discipline and tranquility at the same time. Learn how to say “no” and not agree at someone every time. Learn to differentiate the right way from the wrong way. The only way to know that is to test and challenge ourselves constantly.
The next few years will add another chapter in my life, so are you one of those that will add color to my life? If yes, start painting my life. If no, get those palettes ready and mix your colors now!
