I see the world as a dear friend who welcomes me happily each morning and shows me a variety of new opportunities. Individuals see the world with different perspectives; honestly, I always see the world as my well-wisher who allows life to unfold each day with different promises. I believe the objective of human life in this world is to feel oneness with the world that surrounds and nurtures us. In other words, a person finds inner meaning to his life only when he is able to understand what the world communicates to him on a daily basis.
Interestingly, I see the world as a best communicator. Broadly, communication is defined as the process through which an individual shares a message with another individual with the intention of changing the other person’s behavior. Rothwell (2012) sees communication as a process in which individuals share meaning with one another. I completely agree with Rothwell as I see the world sharing with me different meaning each day. I always watch and listen actively to the world that surrounds me to get directions. The world that surrounds me comprises of the natural things like rivers, mountains, plants, animals and fellow human beings among a variety of other living and non-living things. The world communicates with us in different ways. For instance, I can clearly see that natural disasters like flood, hurricane, tsunami and drought are some of the medium through which the nature expresses its inability to react in a friendly manner to man’s exploitation of the environment.
Secondly, I see the world as a personality with a unique charisma. The natural beauty that surrounds me is proof of the charisma of this world. The natural beauty that surrounds me attracts me besides influencing my mood. Conversely, everyday, I draw my inner energy from the beauty surrounding me. Similarly, the wisdom of our ancestors that I read and understand through books and the intellect of individuals living around me influence my thinking and behavior pattern. Thus, I look forward to welcoming each day with a new hope even if I go through certain gloomy experience some days.
Globalization, which helps in integrating cultures, opinions and technical ideas across the world among a variety of other things, helps me to find opportunities of diverse nature in this world. Globalization is defined as the strengthening of social relationships across the world, which in turn links distant localities so that local accomplishments are fashioned by things occurring numerous miles away (Giddens, 1991). Of late, I see with excitement and much confidence the growth of telecommunication and internet technology that are taking the world by storm towards ensuring more avenues through globalization (Wolf, 2014). I foresee globalization as promoting trade, movement of capital and manpower and dissemination of world class knowledge across the world to give limitless opportunities to individuals living in different corners of the earth.
As a good communication strategy focuses on persuading the audience to changing their behavior, I see the world as a dear friend persuading me to take a proactive attitude about life. I get both verbal and non-verbal messages from the world on a regular basis. For instance, the messages I get from fellow human beings fall under the category of verbal communication whereas the messages I get from every other sources, including my own intuitions, belong to the non-verbal category. Persuasive power of intelligent men and women helps in achieving business milestones. On the other hand, the impeccable persuasive power of nature leads to change of human attitude towards protecting nature. For instance, global warming occurring as a result of carbon emission through burning fossil fuels leads to several natural disasters across the world. This powerful non-verbal communication tactic of Mother Nature persuades human beings to control carbon emission.
Metaphorically, I see the world as a stage on which each of us, men and women, play different roles. Many believe that the world was created all of a sudden and therefore would be destroyed one day, but the world or the universe that we are part of was never created; instead, it existed from the very beginning. Even though the human beings along with the living and non-living things together form this universe which is limitless, our limited life in the bodies make us believe that the world too has its own limitations. On the other hand, when we leave this physical body, our stage play alone comes to an end and the play would go along undisturbed.
Every individual born into this world should enjoy equal rights as for enjoying the opportunities and resources the world encompasses. I believe the Social Responsibility theory of communication, which insists that one’s conscience should drive his action towards others and the world is of much relevance in protecting the rights of everyone. Similarly, the libertarianism theory suggests that each and every citizen has the basic right to speak, publish and write freely; this approach helps individuals, particularly the younger generation, bring out their creative ideas without fearing the criticism of others towards making this world a better place for everyone to live in.
