This performance evaluation is based on the observation of irresponsible behavior of some employees in an oil and gas company, regarding health and safety Rules and regulations. A group of employees in drilling department has been found to not follow the health and safety procedures while performing their job tasks on the drilling sites. As a result, the health and even life of other employees as well as their own lives are put to risk due to non-compliance to the health and safety standards. The problem has been reported to the human resource and operations manager. There are various problem areas associated with this issue as the malpractice can impact the overall performance standards of the company, while negatively impacting the position of the company in the industry. The manages made observations and determined the causes of these non-compliance issues. It revealed that the lack of training and orientation of the employees regarding the health and safety regulations of the company resulted in irresponsible and poor performance of the employees. Additionally, the ignorance of the operations manager on the site. The non-compliance towards health and safety rules can impact the performance standards of the company, causing other employees to ignore the health practices and safety regulations. In this regard, human resource manager needs to call a meeting of concerned employees, managers, and supervisors to address the issue in an efficient manner and provide necessary training to employees and supervisors regarding health and safety regulations of the company.
Performance Issues
This document aims at informing the employees that have been found responsible in not meeting health and safety regulations of the company. As you know that the company is an oil and gas company and health regulations are critical to a safe and healthy work environment. If
you are not going to wear safety helmet or jacket while drilling process is going on the site, this can increase the risk of exposure to immense heat and radiations. Although you may think that avoiding a helmet will not impact your health as you may be away from drilling site, but to ensure employee health and safety, business firm have to ensure the health and safety of its employees by seeking compliance to health standards from each and every employee regardless of the situation around them while working. In this regard, you must understand that non-compliance to these rules can impact your position in the company (Wright, 1979).
Action Plan
In order to ensure health and safety regulations, following action plan must be adhered by all the employees, so that there is no instance of non-compliance in future; Employees involved in non-compliance are to follow safety regulations in future and there should be zero compromise regarding these regulations. No employees are allowed to work on drilling sites without helmets, safety jackets, and glasses. The management is arranging training sessions for non-complying employees and attendance to these sessions is mandatory, and absence can result in further action of serious nature. Training sessions will be based on delivering the critical health and safety regulations to employees. The employees with non-compliance report will be put to probation period of three months. Any instance of non-compliance with health and safety regulations in this period will result in termination without any prior notice.
Desired outcome
Meetings are held in organizations to address and resolve performance issues. Simulation meeting in this regard is intended to improve the health and safety regulations compliance of the company. The management understands that the lack of performance training could have negatively impacted the employee performance on drilling stations. However, the situation needs to be improved and the above mentioned action plan must be followed by the employees involved in recent ases of non-compliance. The company does not want to pose any risk associated with health and safety to its employees and to ensure their safety, strict measures will be taken from now onwards. The employee record will be strictly monitored and observed problems will be communicated to the employees and asked to correct. If there are issues with technical know-how, employees should contact their supervisors immediately. Supervisors must provide their subordinates with best help possible. In this regard, supervisors can seek help from management and human resource manager, to get a better idea of rules and regulations (Noe, 2008). The desired outcomes of this simulation meeting are based on the strict compliance of health and safety regulations of the company. Least expected from employees is the knowledge on company policy regarding health and safety. This simulation is intended to establish the common understanding among employees regarding health and safety of the employees.
