Music has a lot of emotional connection to our feelings and we relate it to our life journeys. Many of the songs we listen to reflects love and how it relates to our personal life. Songs sooth the soul as a way of understanding how we feel even we do not understand completely the feeling. One great composer is a high recognizable individual who has done just that. The wonderful talented musical artist is Henry Purcell.
His music he created called “The Food of Love” was composed in the mid 1600’s and has a signature relation of another great literature artist name William Shakespeare. For individuals who do not know much about the writings and work of Shakespeare would think that the whole song was written on this basis. It was not though; the music first verse was related to “Twelfth Night” of Shakespeare’s work.
The Food of Love can be listened to by Henry Purcell at http://www0.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/If_music_be_the_food_of_love,_Z_379_(Henry_Purcell) Henry Purcell wrote this musical along with many others in his life. His life was not long lived, but he had accomplished a musical milestone that he lived. “He was a singer, composer, and English contemporary composer” . He had served part of his life in the Chapel Royal, and created great works of musical talent along his way. His love of music, and great talent had lead him to perform in church performances, and for shear fun and entertaining others. His passion has shined through his musical ability, and he had composed many lyrics in the time he was able to along his short lived journey of music. Henry had written music for plays, church gatherings, and fun. He had only written one complete opera that was not very long in nature, but was for a school play. He took pride in is work, and enjoyed the feeling music gave him.
A few of his great pieces included songs and vocals for royalty and people of fame. His work has been completed for many different religious gatherings around the world at that time, and his music was heard by many great people of all walks of life. One of the reasons he was such an outstanding composer was the fact he portrayed his work in many different settings. His lyrics had been heard abroad from town to town and people enjoyed the feeling his music gave them. The lyrics of many of his songs offered a variety of feeling from love to death.
The same instance of love is shown in his popular vocal theme of The Food in Love. “The words he spoke relates how love can be fulfilling as food can in a since of emotion and feeling” . His words spoke of how if he could be full of love like as in food he would want nothing more and would be completely satisfied in the way food can make a person feel. The comparison of the two relates to how a person can get satisfaction from the two in a way the fills the body and soul.
The love professed brings joyful music in his ears and everything he sees. The way he sees love relates to the joyful sound of music. Food plays a role in this song as way to compare how love can make you full. Music relates to love in his lyrics has way beautiful sound and sight that he would want to feel continuously in his life as he sees it. His expression of the lyrics is a great insight and example of what people feel, think and see in regards to love, but may not know how to express it like had done. Pleasure is the key symbol in this wonderful piece of music.
