Introduction
The Dickens’s model in the context of global shift emerges to be a result of some principally focused research on the different patterns and process that are associated with globalization. Through out the whole context, Dickens creates focus on the processes as well as the patterns of global shifts. Besides this, he also emphasizes on the forms and results of globalized economic activities and the forces that trigger these forms(Dicken, 2007 pg. 78). Ideally, the model tries to bring across the three vital factors that are essential in transformation and improvement of the economic structure globally. These factors include the technology, the states involved and the Transnational Corporations (TNC). The models try to identify the crucial changes that are based on the social, economic, technological and the political scope of globalization.
Taking into considerations the advanced business services industry, the aspects of the technology, policies that are implemented and the geographical scope of distribution. Taking into consideration two firms that are situated in different geographical arena, it may create a better understanding about the aspect of globalization of firms in terms of the Transnational Corporations as well as their weaknesses and strengths of operation (Dicken, 2007 pg. 78). From India is the Offshore Services Global Value Chain. Having developed as a dynamically changing global economic sector, the firm is renowned for its outstanding participation in the evolution of the level of Information and technology. The firm applies the economic concept of lowering costs and making access to talents plays a very significant role in its diversification of services. Ideally, firms are immensely attracted to the developing country with an objective of being global due to different factors. These factors include the low cost on human resources, the availability of technological advancement in that particular place, similarity in the time zones and the cultural limits of the markets.
Our firm of interest in the Indian Offshore Services Global Value Chain is the CPA Global. Within it is the objective to provide services to the citizens. It is supported by the factors like the level of technology as well as the talent in the industry. The global offshore service is glowing at an alarming rate. The global advancement by the firm is attributed to the different methodologies that are used. For example, owing to the fact that the firm has its global dimensions, upgrading of its economic framework is one of the most influential aspects of developing the firm globally. Some of the sections have undergone development are alienated to issues related to its functionality and products (Dicken, 2007 pg. 78). However, there are some challenges that the firm faces being an offshore service firm. Despite the fact that the technology experts with India have optimally worked in the United States, the fact remains that what they apply is already applied in the United States of America. Relatively, this makes the nations competitiveness to have leakages in important aspects as market dominance. Relativelly, the Global production networks (GPNs) are well fixed in the firm.
Comparatively, in the United States, a relatively small operational company is carries out the business services. The Business360, Inc is one knowledge outsourcing firm, which engages with customized strategies of research, analysis, as well as making writing services (Dicken, 2007 pg. 78). The operations that are carried out in this firm are aimed at making public the reports of economic valuation as well as creating attention to the press. The firm has a record of working globally including the United Kingdom. Like in the previously discussed firm from India, the Business 360 is aimed at making excellent consultations as well as management character traits. Relating to the other business service firms, they are engaged in active community services which some are rewarding whereas other are not. However, there is one requirement that has enabled dominance of the industry in the field of services. First, the levels of technology as well as skilled personnel have played a great role in their development. Statistically, the operations of such firms either in the global or domestic divide have had an impartial result from the developing levels of technology. This is because the administration is capable of making a successful outreach to the clients globally.
However, there is a common challenge that every service firm may face. First, the level of competition is a one alarming issue with reference to the globe. Presence of other competitive players in the market has affected the business in case of reluctance. Secondly, unlike the onshore services, in the Business360 category, there is the aspect of seasonality in the business structure (Dicken, 2007 pg. 78). This means that there is need to work on the productivity. Relatively, the challenge of reaching the clients is also one issue that affects the business in case of poor seasons.
In the business service industry in the United States as well as India, bear some relationships. However, there is an expectation that there may be a consistent growth of the industry in both nations with respect to the development of technological advancements. Inconsistences, in the market trend need to be adapted to within this industry. This therefore calls for strategic formation of policies to enable firms deal with related shortcomings.
