Personal Statement: Saudi Board - Pathology
I am currently employed in the capacity of pathology demonstrator in the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University. My chosen career in pathology commenced in 2011 following a nine-month residency in orthopedics, subsequent to my graduation with an MBBS in Medicine and Surgery in 2010.
I want to pursue Pathology as my chosen career; I believe that it is not only intellectually rewarding but that there are enormous opportunities for research and for continual learning available in that speciality, which also offers me the best possible management plan. In fulfilling my ambition to become an academic pathologist, I will encounter diseases of every organ and bodily system and will be able to combine clinical, morphological, biochemical and even molecular findings. I will dedicate myself to providing the best diagnostic services for patients as well as exploring the nature of human disease and training young physicians and scientists. Pathology is able to fuel my passion as one who has chosen medicine as my life’s career, because correct diagnosis can save so many lives. Earlier, whilst working at the KAU hospital I attended numerous pathology conferences (local and international) to help satisfy my need to acquire further knowledge of the subject.
As a dedicated, hard working and knowledgeable individual, and a good team player, I believe I am a perfect fit for this residency. I look forward to working alongside physicians of every speciality to further broaden my medical experience. Following my residency I intend to pursue further oncology training with a fellowship in the USA. I prepared well for the USMLE exam and am now fully prepared and determined to begin my residency.
Thank you for your time and consideration: Abdulhadi Samman.
