A presentation about safe sex practices that should be encouraged by campus students and the various STI that are associated with unsafe sex practices was done to create more awareness about the topic. The presenter did her work perfectly and discussed everything the way it is. To start with, she went through the common sexually transmitted diseases that most campus students would encounter, these she noted to include herpes, HIV, gonorrhea, and HPV. Her main focus in discussing these diseases were their signs and symptoms and the first-step actions that one could undertake should they be under any suspicion of having been infected. It was noticeable that she emphasized on one getting tested for such infection if one got a new sex partner.
Of most importance to note was her explanation that most people might not be aware of their status concerning these infections; reason being that some of them do not show visible indicators of infection and due to these, people can easily transmit them to the other person without knowing. However, she noted that HPV can be vaccinated hence the infection is easy to deal with.
On a different aspect of sexuality, the presenter discussed various pregnancy prevention measures and her main focus was the reliability of these control measures and how to make use of them in daily life. From her presentation, it emerged that use of condoms was the only way amongst other pregnancy prevention measure that helped avoiding STI infections. Something that seemed extreme was going to the extent of showing a video that illustrated condom use and how one ought to put it on! Lastly, the presenter discussed the various avenues that could assist anyone with certain issues about sex, pregnancy, and STI; such avenues are like the Planned Parenthood and health centers, etc.
