Issues and Problems
Introduction
Grief, distress and sadness are emotions that a person displays in case of loss. Loss can be a loss of things, loss of reputation or even loss of people. Emotional anatomy is a science which has been based on emotions and psychology of people (Schwartz, 1999). It helps in providing psychological therapies for the purpose of helping extreme depression and anxiety caused due to problems and issues. An important problem or issue that is causing a lot of distress to me is the death of my grandparents and a divorce between my parents. This is causing me a lot of stress and sadness and it is important that I find ways to overcome these issues.
It is easier to make up or work towards making up for several other losses except the loss of people. Death of loved ones leaves a great amount of grief and shock to people. The problem is that I lost my grandparents in an accident recently and now there are several problems that my parents are facing in their marriage. The thought of they going through a divorce is extremely distressful (Williams & Wood, 1998).
Expressing the problem
Like most children who experience the death of a loved one, I was sad over the loss, but overall unscathed because I did not fully understand the concept of death. The only thing that disturbed me a lot was the change in the environment at home. I could sense a lot of grief and it did scare me a lot. I find it difficult to discuss this with my parents and also discussing it with friends has not been very useful.
It had caused me a lot of mental grievance and suffering. It made me to think against the institution of marriage. This leads to the disruption of my normal way of life. I lived a life of confusion and emotional disturbance. It is extremely essential that I at that stage was given the required support and therapy for me to be able to understand the right way of life and also ensure that there is sufficient understanding about things around me. If I understood these situations better, I might have been in a better position to help my mother as well and also support her emotionally (Muchinsky, 2005).
Conducting research and sources of information
Solution
There are several techniques and strategies as well as therapies that can help in the process of resolving and reducing grief. It is possible to do this through counselling and several other exercises that can help a person divert his mind from the grief. It is essential that there is emotional support and cognition, social behavioural therapy as well as behavioural cognition. Several sources of information include the internet, psychiatrist and a therapist.
Decision to action
As I am facing severe distress, visiting a therapist is an appropriate decision to action as it can help me understand better. Artificiality is also one of the methods which help simulate the person’s emotions and help him overcome his grief through several techniques. Artificiality refers to performance of testing or observation of a situation in research in order to understand the psychological implication and behaviour under controlled environments (Muchinsky, 2005). Only a therapist would be able to help me overcome distress.
