Methodology
In order to study and analyze the use of social networks in the employment procedures of the companies, it was chosen to use the example of Sodexo.
The following methods have been used:
Documentary Analysis
With the purpose to identify whether Sodexo uses social media for its employment procedures and in positive case how exactly and what resources they use, I have analyzed a number of open sources, such as Sodexo official website, career website of this company, articles, and etc. Analysis of these sources provided me with the general information on the topic as well as statistics that supports the information.
Observations
During several weeks I have visited Facebook career page of Sodexo and checked the activity of job candidates on this page. It is possible to see their questions and answers on this page. The information about employment in Sodexo is also available on this page. I did the same with the other social networking websites used by Sodexo. This activity has provided me with the general image of the process of recruiting using social networks.
Interviews
I have also conducted a short on-line interview with one of the Sodexo’s HR specialists engaged in the recruitment process using social networks. The employee commented on information available in the open sources and gave a short overview of the company’s experience of using social networks for employment purposes.
The above methods allowed me to learn more about careers in Sodexo, the company’s overall HR strategy as well as the use of social media resources with the purpose to hire new employees. The available statistics data allowed to estimate the effectiveness of this strategy and to identify which resource in more useful for employment purposes.
Conclusion
In order to investigate the use of social media for the employment purposes it is decided to use the following research methods: documentary analysis, observations, and interviews. It is supposed that the above-mentioned qualitative research methods are more effective than the quantitative ones.
