Question1
Implications relating to T-test Table
The results of the T-test show that females are more concerned about violent crimes that can be justified by the analysis of mean values. The average value for women respondents is greater than (inclined towards being concerned) that of male respondents, and the p-value signifies that there is no significant difference between the responses of male and female respondents. The results also represent that female respondents are more concerned about the offenses in the neighborhood at nights, and a significant difference in means is present (p-value - .015, males mean – 2.40, and female mean – 6.67). The indication is also provided that female respondents do not feel safe in New York City during the nights. The p-value indicates a significant difference between male and female respondents as men feel safe at nights. An important point is extracted from the values that men are concerned about going to some locations at nights, and the level of concern is higher than females. The male and female responses also signify that they are worried about the information provided by the police department relating to crime in the city. The findings show that people are relaxed about the technologies that police department posses. Females are concerned about the patrolling by the police department, and male respondents believe that the police department must increase the number of officers on streets. Finally, female and male respondents show their concern about the crime prevention programs and require the police department to raise awareness for the programs.
The New York Police Department must focus on improving the security and must develop an infrastructure to inform the citizens about the crime situations. The department of police must also ensure that patrolling timings are increased at night to increase the trust of residents. It must also increase the number of police officers to limit the crimes in New York City.
Implications relating to Correlation
The correlation analysis is undertaken to identify the relationship between the questions for the study. The results show that in general, the respondents believe that they are safer during the day hours that explain the need for improving the conditions at night. On the other hand, the results of correlation 2 suggest that the respondents agree that they are safer in New York City due to the amount of time that the police department spends on patrolling. The relationship between the safety of New York City and Police Department patrolling time is high (.722), and the significance value is .028 that is less than .05 i.e. the standard significance value for correlation. There are no other significant relationships present in the association table.
Based on analysis of the results and overall responses it can be stated that taking a sample of only ten respondents is not sufficient. The reliability is an issue since the results cannot be generalized to the overall population of New York City. The research paper helps to identify the opinion of males and females regarding the security in New York City and also offers possible weaknesses in the operations and systems adopted by the New York City Police Department. The implication of the results can help to improve the current crime scenario and also to enhance the security of individuals.
Question2
The results of the correlation specify that level of concern for male and female respondents is significantly related to safety during daylights. The in-depth analysis reveals that security in daylights has a significant relationship with security from crime in the neighborhood during night, safety issues for some areas and places to visit at night, and the increase of crimes in the past three years. On the other hand, correlation 2 explains that male and female respondents agree to the point that patrolling by the New York Police Department is the only reason they think distinguishes New York City from Fort Worth. The primary cause of no correlation between concerns of male and female respondents relating to security and safety issues is the inefficiency of the Police Department of New York City.
