Columnist individuals play an important role in the society. They are concerned with writing local articles in a magazine to raise awareness about a problem affecting a community by defending his or her argument concerning a public issue. An action to be taken by the leaders in power was of concern to writing the document in the magazine. In most cases it is normally repeated and published by the same writer on that subject. Article columns share some characteristics regardless of the author and they are, one, it must be precise and clearly states the point of view in the study. It has to be supported by factual evidence that clarifies the topic discussed.
Various observations were made through field work, using scholarly articles and library books expressing their opinion based on the observations made about the article work for consistency. Column plays some important roles to individuals and authors which include creating public concern in a columnist way of reasoning by explaining the importance of the article despite them proposing or opposing it. One should use a persuasive tone to the people so that they support the opinion. Secondly, it allows for debate between the author and the representatives from both sides to share their opinion and all drafted in the editorial with one common solution. Finally, it shows contradicting matters but through a columnist, he or she will offer a supportive argument with greater evidence for the supports to accept and support the motion among others (CTB 1).
Examples of issues discussed that affects most individuals in the society are gender and society written by Farrell and Horowitz (26), individuals fighting for power gain in religion practical plans of the nation and grand vision issues in the US (Collins 1). Citizens are always the most affected when problems occur in the society. As a start, gender and society concern the behavioral attitude of people and how they value the minority individuals living with them in the same environment.
Young people perceived themselves as being breadwinners in the family by seeking higher job positions in companies a contrast to the expectation of older people who on the hand were not willing to surrender their positions and have a retrenchment period (Adler 1). Gender roles were a challenge to these people as female employees were struggling to be independent regarding economic responsibility a statement their male counterparts were against. They needed to alienate racial discrimination and inequality in domestic responsibilities (Adler 3).
According to Farrell and Horowitz (1), they argued that state leaders and the public need to appreciate family caretakers. In organizations where gender inequality is on the rise, managers need to find ways in which they will balance employers work and family care giving by instituting policies that ensure business duties does not interrupt family work. Gender equality is a major concern making the caregivers advocate for their rights as they also contribute to the economic development in the environmental region.
Aspects of gender and race should not apply when implementing policies in the economy on payment salaries for women, caregivers, and men but it needs to be rated about every individual's effort and quality work outcomes. Bourgois (3) in Farrell and Horowitz book research explained that culture needs to be estimated as community power and social value identity regarding respect. He studied a small village called Jibaro where men discriminated women at the workplace despite these ladies being their authoritative supervisors. By contrast, both authors point of argument was that women need to be independent, strong and accorded respect at home and their place of duty.
Gender equality further, aims at ensuring that both and women have equal positions and responsibilities in carrying out family matters (Bourgois 2). Workers unions were formed to solve the gap difference between men and women employees in position ranking arguing that is should be made neutral. Social, economic, cultural and political groups must work together to ensure that matters relating to gender and race are addressed giving every individual right to proper care and protection.
In Collins article (1) he narrated that a man by name Donald Trump was at war with Pope Francis regarding Christian religious wall that he was against. Pope argued that any believer who opposed the construction of walls used in prayers did not qualify to be a true Christian. Trump disagreed with this statement, in his thought he said that anyone who had doubts about the great work of building the same wall was seen as being dishonest to the worshippers. Trump's statement later in the media was the opposite as he changed the topic by supporting the pope.
Under Christian perspective, he is seen as a schemer who speaks differently when in public and at private sectors challenging the opinion of the believers on the correct path to follow in making decisions whether to build the wall or reject it. By holding a rally, he made the people understand his point of view but in a political direction of planning to build a wall along the borderline of the country (Collins Gail 2). Another comparison was between Trump and his sister Barry, who was a senior judge at the US Court of Appeal in making justice on crimes committed. His supporter Tedd always believed in his statements as he always explains issues affecting the community the way they are despite his critics.
He said that at some point, Judge Barry once wrote an article on pro- abortion attracting the opinion of the majority making it become law in an unconstitutional manner. In the end, when he was summoned by reporters to provide evidence, he defended himself by challenging Tedd that it was a joke on his sister and it is an issue that was not serious. The contrast was that he wanted the government and his administrative leaders who have neglected the citizens to address the problems affecting the nation not their individual interests only (Collins Gail 3).
Collins final comparison was between Sanders and Hillary Clinton. Their separate arguments were based on practical plans and grand vision emphasis in the US in 2007 during their presidential candidature. Each one of them has a separate idea on procedures and policies to implement the two matters along with handling immigrants in the country. When a Democratic debate was held Clinton supported the immigrants being in the country while Sanders requested for more time to rethink about it and provide an answer at a later date (Collins Gail 4).
Bridging gap between these two candidates were economic plans and vision of where the country will be in development. Sander in delivering his speech believed that he can improve educational and social welfare system of the nation as a whole by offering free services in healthcare facilities and remedial classes to public colleges. Clinton intervened but with a different opinion seeing that as a mockery and an empty promise to American people. Auto industry financial support was another matter raised in the debate in which Clinton found Sander accusing her of refusing to help the company that was bankrupt at Michigan town.
During Bush administration in power, a bill was passed in which Sander voted to provide loans to the industry, but it failed to be passed upon reaching the Senate desk. Clinton on the side told the public that the same person voted against the money that was to save the company from collapsing (Collins Gail 5). With these statements on conflict of interest, the public debate summarized that Clinton was an extraordinary leader in debating motions as she composed real and soothing answers to state problems rewarding her for her quality stand being the best candidate for president seat (Collins Gail 6)
In conclusion, in addressing a person public opinion on matters affecting the society and ways in which they can be motivated, columnist people are the best source to have the message delivered to a large number of citizens in the nation. Success to this arrives when the columnist merges with other media personnel in communicating the message at hand through public announcements and advertisements further influencing members of the society to state their opinion in the matter raised in a transparent and neutral way, in the end, having a neutral solution. Apart from different views given on problems affecting the community, there must always be a neutral solution provider in solving the matter that will leave every individual satisfied.
