The main direction in improvement of computer technology is traditional communication, engineering, and biotechnology. It is planned that biotechnology, with the help of computers, will be able to create artificial implants, tissues of organs for transplantation and even “artificial intelligence”, capable to help a person in solving a number of routine tasks. If computer technology evolves at its current pace, in 50 years mankind will witness the advent of the computer with mind that will surpass the human`s in speed of information processing executing billions of operations per second. It is yet unknown what an application an artificial intelligence will find in daily activities, and whether huge investments in its creation are justified. Nonetheless, the work in this direction is underway, and scientists are extremely cautious to report modest results not wanting to jump the gun.Начало формыКонец формы
Biocomputers
The first experiments on the piecing together the computer and living cells have become revolutionary attracting the attention of leading world specialists. (news.bbc.co.uk) By 2033 scientists plan to create a computer the size of a cell of a living organism, invisible to the naked eye. (Waters) The main application areas of biocomputers are: biomonitoring, the study of intracellular processes of living beings, and deciphering of genetic information.
Man's Dependence on Technology
Someone speaks out against the rapidly developing technical process saying that soon computers will supersede everything. Perhaps this is a too pessimistic view. In fact, many people make good use of these innovations. For example, they do a charity work sponsoring hospitals and orphanages via an instant money transfer. Businessmen need a pocket PC as it helps them to quickly solve their important business issues. The advantages of modern computer technologies are apparent. The main thing is to use them profitably.
Computers have penetrated into all spheres of human activity - from primary education to the study of the latest technology, exploring new kinds of matter, and other phenomena, unknown to mankind. The use of computer technology facilitates the process of education in secondary and higher educational institutions. The wide spread of PCs has played a huge role in the development of the labor market. Automation of information processes allows doing the job within a few seconds that previously took weeks. Managers instantaneously get information about the state of their enterprises and working places. Computer technology also plays a vital role in medicine. There are created a variety of virtual models of development of diseases and huge bases of information on the ground of which new medicines are invented.
Of course, the excessive amount of time that people spend on social networks, more likely, can cause the Internet addiction. But we won't go into the nature of these problems, since it's mostly the exception to the rule. And with a proper use of computer technologies there are much more benefits and we feel it every day.
