Lack of women in the tourism industry is a critical issue that has to be affecting Saudi Arabia because as we know they can be a pillar to this sector as it has been identified by several pieces of research conducted. It is similarly an ethical issue that has to be negatively impacting on the economy of the country, and it should be dealt with in an appropriate manner in order to ensure increment of revenue collected from the sector. Ethics is associated with tourism and hospitality in various ways that are critical in the modern world. It provides and stipulates guidelines on how people should behave in a societal context, and it also indicates moral duties and obligations that individuals adhere to. The inadequacy of ladies is in the tourism and hospitality sector is an ethical dilemma that should be solved through a well-structured decision-making a framework in which it will resolution the issue appropriately (Lieberman & Nissen, 2008).
Theoretical ethics is appropriate in addressing the ethical dilemma encountered in this perspective which is lack of women in tourism and hospitality industry in Saudi Arabia because they are important aspect in the sector for instance; jobs that they can critically be involved in. As we know ladies carry on duties that males cannot be associated with, for instance; in hotels it is important to have women on the front desk and customer care services. It is because they fit appropriately in such positions as compared to men.
Theories based on ethics can appropriately assist in reasoning and in making decisions as it concerns this issue. These theories include; Consequential (Teleology), Non-consequential (Deontology), and social, ethical theories (Session 3-4, 2015).
A Framework for Ethical Decision Making
Question one
The decision on initiating involvement of Arabic women in the tourism and hospitality industry in Saudi Arabia is a critical issue which calls for attention for every citizen because it will assist in solving discrimination evident towards these ladies who are important part of the society. This decision will not affect anybody in the society expect the government that should act appropriately towards the matter because Arabic women have to be identified as significant figures in the society by the roles that they can play in developing the sector. In the modern world, there are some cultural aspects that are crucial in the society and which should be appreciated and supported. Tourism advocates for fairness in the labor market and adherence to individual rights without discrimination towards age, race and gender. It is an issue that has been abused as women are concerned and should be corrected before it is too late. Consequential ethical theory based on utilitarianism advocates for benefit for all people in the society in which by this perspective discrimination of Arabic women is against it in some ways because the current situation is focused to help a given group in the society. The decision is based on two alternatives that are argued based on what is good and bad but as per the evident circumstance it is the appropriate and best perspective of the society that should always prevail (Session 3-4, 2015)
Question two
The issue of advocating for inclusion of Arabic women in tourism and hospitality industry is a legal perspective because under act utilitarianism based on consequential theory, every action towards happiness of many people is more moral than compared to ignoring what is appropriate and going for what is inappropriate. This step will enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the sector because Arabic ladies may end up being more productive than men and women from other tribes. This aspect is adequately supported by the facts that there is a big difference between women and men when it comes to ethics of care. This is because they really focus on affiliation, context and relation to making justice which makes them different from men and when those three aspects are incorporated in the working environment as it concerns this sector a lot of changes will definitely be evident (Session5, 2015). That is the reason to why gender should always be balanced in job perspective. In this sector, egoism is an aspect that should be ignored and forgotten because it has been encouraged in the sense that the decisions made are meant to serve a chosen few in the society without considering women.
Question three
As this case is concerned, it has been evident that Arabic women are not recognized as significant people in the society because there is a belief that they are not hard working, and they can have limited impact on the tourism and hospitality sector. This argument is generalized and is just based on fake opinions that are situated on generalization in which morality opposes by the facts that individual morals based on responsibilities can be handled differently by people (Session 9, 2015). The industry is specific to business ethics without putting into consideration on personal ethics that portrays differences between various people. Personal values give a clear reflection of the measures of how an individual can perform by the fact that they guide their actions and the way of making decisions (Session 5, 2015).
Question four
In this industry men and women from other tribe are recognized to be the main stakeholders in the labor sector based on issues which are not indicated and explained by which the situation portrays disrespect for Arabic culture by discriminating their women who are human beings like others. That aspect has been identified among the failures that are being reflected in tourism in Saudi Arabia. The sector has felt to address its setting of responsibilities appropriately is concerned because it does not consider the ethical issue has one of the focuses which should always be advocated for the betterment and success of the business. As this aspect is concerned, non-consequential theory based on Kantian ethics has not been adhered to appropriately because individual morals should always be measured by the sense of duty allocated and performance so it is really right to implement the decision that Arabian women should be considered important and treated has others in the society (session 3-4, 2015)
Question five
The National Government has been consulted about the issue, but it acted for a short period in which the action emerged again. The managing bodies associated with recruitment of employees have also been made aware of the aspect, but they do not consider important still and these calls for more actions to be initiated in order for the issue to address appropriately once and for all. The best opinion that can see this issue through is by involving parliamentary representatives who should revise the laws based on employee recruitment as races and gender is concerned. After revision, the laws should be implemented effectively by structuring a body of specialists to ensure they are adhered to in each and every company in the country. The national government can also delegate its powers to a particular body of expertise to carry on the duty of stipulating laws governing recruitment and handling of employees in the job market in order to ensure fairness is inculcated by all public and private sector. These are the best alternatives which should be initiated in order to ensure equity and equality is adhered upon in the job market because it will be hard for any organization to encourage and practice racism and discrimination in fear of the consequences that accompany violation of those laws (Lieberman & Nissen, 2008).
Question six
In accordance to utilitarian perspective, the option based on delegation of powers to a committee of expertise by the national government is the appropriate option because the body will have sufficient time to stipulate laws governing recruitment of employees in public and private sector in which it will ensure they are adhered to for the good of the entire society and individualistic perspective will be eliminated completely. The rights of every member of the society will be respected because equity and equality will be observed in the job market based on age, gender and race. Based on this option every individual will be served expectedly and all measures regarding recruitment will be adhered upon appropriately, and this will enhance satisfaction to both individual and societal perspective. It will also create affair ground for competition whereby it will bring about nurturing of talents and achievement of individual dreams (Session 3-4, 2015).
The national government should delegate its powers to a body of expertise in order to ensure efficiency and effectiveness as this situation is concerned because equity and equality will be inculcated in the country at large. The body should be under the control of the government in order to ensure transparency and accountability is adhered to by initiating auditing of the committee often.
Question seven
Delegation of powers to a body of expertise by the national government addresses the issue appropriately, and it should be established and implemented in order to ensure Arabic women are valued and recognized in the society. It is because it will be able to scrutinize keenly, and analysis the situation appropriately and address it in the best ways for the benefit of all members of the society. It will also ensure fairness in the job market based on gender and race because it will stipulate laws that all public and private organizations will adhere to and if not the appropriate measures will be taken against them. As per the social contract theory, this is the best option because the body of expertise will put into consideration its moral duty as the society is concerned, and it will focus on the benefit for all. In this theory, it is stated that, moral duty is based on ‘implications for future sustainability’ (Session 3-4, 2015)
Question eight
As it is advocated in ethics and morality in the society, it will be hard for any person or a television audience to react negatively as it is based on all the issues concerned with delegation of powers to a body of expertise by the national government because what is good will always prevail no matter the circumstances experienced in the society. In fact, the audience will support the option and advocate for it to be implemented because it will ensure equity and equality in the society. It is less expected for majority to oppose what is right and what will bring about justice to a particular group of the society which is mistreated by the community where they live because they do not know about the funny scenarios that may come their way in future (Lieberman & Nissen, 2008).
If the motion is presented to House of Representatives, many parliamentarians will support it because their people will benefit from it. Violation of rights is inappropriate in accordance with individual morals because difficult times cannot be predicted in many cases and initiating risk management strategies is the best option to go for in life.
Question nine
The decision based on delegation of powers to a body of expertise by the national government can be implemented by encouraging parliamentary representatives to table a motion in parliament on the issue in which many will support it and vote for its success, after which a committee will be appointed to select a body of expertise who will be handling all matters concerned with recruitment of employees in both public and private sector. The parliamentary committee will be controlling the body by ensuring annual audits are conducted on it in order to make sure transparency and accountability are adhered to always. The body will be supported fully by the government financial in order to ensure it has enough and appropriate resource for use in its operations. The body will scrutinize all organizations and analyze if the situation is true by starting with the proposed sector that is the tourism and hospitality sector (Donaldson, 1996).
Question ten
The decision has turned out to be the best of all because it advocates for the benefit of all people and by it the situation on Arabic women being discriminated will be solved and eliminated completely and the same scenario will be hard to be evident in the society. It is because the decision is well argued upon based on consequential or teleology, non-consequential or deontology and social contract theories. These theories advocate for actions that are beneficial for all and discouraging individualism in the making decision as it concerns discrimination of certain group in the society. It is the situation that Arabic women have been faced with, whereby they are not recognized in their community, and their abilities considered being inappropriate in the tourism and hospitality industry. Even though some actions had been attempted to deal with this issue after that, they did not succeed due to ignorance and poor consideration being evident from the bodies concerned. The best decision to address this issue based on delegation of powers will succeed in achieving what had not been observed in the society because it is based on transparency and accountability. Also has it concerns the option on delegation of powers to a body of expertise, several approaches have been incorporated and well considered in order to ensure its accuracy and appropriateness. They include; justice, virtue, rights and utilitarian approaches that can be used to weigh the accuracy and appropriateness of a given set decision as ethics and molarity is concerned in tourism (Lieberman & Nissen, 2008).
