The Grapes of Wrath is a novel written by John Steinbeck as he gives the story revolving around the family of Joad. The novel illustrates oppression and hardship that faced the migrants’ workers during the great depression. In depth it is a political tract that governed collectivist action on oppressing those looking for jobs. In the same sense, the speech that was delivered by Martin Luther King on the oppression of the black people has a lot of similarities as compared to the The Grapes of Wrath. Martin Luther speech covers the oppression nature of the blacks as well.
The Declaration's for independence introduction provides the people's right to separate from a tyrannical government. The main body provides evidence about the British government as to have acted in tyrannically. The declaration conclude that there is unequivocal states that the colonies "need to be independent states and free; that the states are absolved from entire Allegiance to the British Crown, as well as that the entire political connection between them and State of Great-Britain, could and ought to be completely dissolved For instance as in this quotation." signing the Declaration was a show of treason. Those involved in the signing, in the Declaration's final conclusion, openly implied themselves as enemies to the British. The said or written “ought", as used twice within the conclusion, showed moral responsible mess and made a final appeal to Law naturally. The last part of the declaration makes some appeals to God. The authors refer upon divine help to aid their outcome as well as appeal to God made to persuade the countries of the world of the truth of their act or signing. When taking the nation's forming document as well as the intent of the framers accountable, the modern liberal motion implies that images of God and some other references to Deity were opposed to structural liberty as well as should not be included in public buildings could be ludicrous at best while it can be treasonous at worst.
The social philosophy shown by Steinbeck in his book The Grapes of Wrath is somehow complicated and somewhat and contradictory. The crucial social theory shown by Jim Casy, presented on by Ma Joad, as well as eventually realized through Tom Joad, could be the one that compels on the little people referred to in the impoverished as well as dispossessed, to form together in order to achieve power over capital-minded proprietors. The social philosophy establishes that human survival can be dependent upon the bonding together as humans to come up with strength in group unity as well as action. The explanation of the theory in the book can be seen in the education of those oppressed and disadvantaged while with their formation of unions as well as strikes as motivators of group strikes and change. The Grapes of wrath, forms around a certain family background as the basic principle of the book. On the other hand, Martin Luther King talks about the family of black people all together. Dr. Martin is fighting for the unity between the all races and especially all races. In his speech he speaks of a dream when all will be united as one, family. He speaks of a dream where people would work together as a family irrespective of color or race. I the declaration of independence, his second paragraph provide the philosophy within which the declaration can be given as the basis of family set up. In the statement, “all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights”, that men institute governments in order to secure these rights and that when government attempts to remove these rights, the governed have the right to rebel.
Freedom of expression for the others is freedom of expression for us. A look at the three parts of discussion shows a similarity in this field. First a look at freedom in the Grapes of Wrath, this is where the laborers are being mistreated and taken for a ride in California. For Instance, when the family of Joad gets news about the job offers in California, they all set up to go work for their families. Later, they realized it was a fraud and that they were wanted as slaves, working for mere money in California. The Grapes of Wrath see the fight for freedom from the oppression of the workers.
The Declaration of Independence confirms certain freedoms that are at the same time portrayed in the other areas of discussion. Some of these freedoms are everyone is born equally with the freedoms pertaining the laws of that country and independent, as well as they have specific and inherent rights which are natural, they cannot be altered, in any compact, divest or diverge their posterity. The books also fight for the enjoyment of life as well as liberty. They Americans wanted to attain the means of acquiring as well as possessing property. They also fought for the freedom of pursuing and obtaining safety and happiness in their country. The independence that was analyses from the book looked at the freedom of oppression from the British people who were trying to acquire land and conquer America.
Dr. Martin Luther Speech that was delivered in 1963, fought for the freedom from oppression also just as the other discussed areas. Martin Luther fights for the rights of the black people who he refers to them as Negros. During the time of racism in America the black Americans were being neglected from housing, employment and freedom of expression. The speech saw revolution which intended to improve the conditions existing between the white American and the black Americans. The relation to the other forms discussed here is the freedom from oppression.
In realizing the American dream, The Grape of the Wrath covered the employment opportunities in America. This could be after the oppression of the families in the other states rather that California as indicated in the book. American dream could be achieved in this book through the attainment of jobs in California. The dream again in this book determines the ownership of the land. It claimed that the ownership of the land should be supreme to the owners of the land and the residents. Again families should be united in their own country and labor provided.
The speech given by Martin Luther King was all about the American dream where he delivered the speech quoting how he would wish America is independent, free from racism and racial discrimination. He had a dream about a new America where a Negro (Black American) should be treated just like White. His dream is to see America where employment, housing, and other relevant opportunities would be shared equally without discrimination of color or race. With attainment of that American Dream would have been achieved and people would be living together as a family.
Similarly, the American dream in the declaration of independence could be achieved due to the fact, that all men were created in the same way and thus they should share their responsibilities and rights. Second, that everyone was given “unalienable” freedom from their creator or maker and thus American dream can be achieved though respecting one another.. Third, the role could include those rights of liberty, life, and the pursuit for happiness. Fourth one states that, governments should be created in order to make sure that every person possesses his/her rights. Fifth, when the kind of government begins to spoil or break down these freedoms instead of standing to protect the rights, the people should then have the right to alter or change the said government. The Declaration established that the colonies of America, the thirteen of them, should no longer be regarded as part of the British nation, therefore, they should no longer ruled or controlled by the British states.
In conclusion, the declaration of the Independence, The speech delivered by Martin Luther King As well as The Grapes of Wrath different at some point and at the same time have some similarities. The chare common ideas especially in the fight for the freedom in America since them all revolve around the American fight from oppression. They also have common characters in the sharing the dream of America as it predicts on the future of the American. The dream was, based on freedom, liberty and racism surrounding Americans. Again they share ideas in the formation as the movements are formed to contest as one or groups. These groups from the Grape of Wrath are families that fight for labor. It the declaration for independence too they fight for the families in the in America suffering in the hands of British government. Martin Luther King fought for the Black Americans to be recognized just like White Americans the plight of racism.
