The issue of racism within most communities in America has been a challenge for a while. The blacks have been the biggest hit in terms of racial discrimination as they suffer the most. In the book what is white trash, the authors have defined the term vulgar multiculturalism as the phenomena that proceed from whiteness in a manner that subjugates nonwhites. The performance by the white rap artists that are christened blackness has offered a different dimension to this notion. The artists try to bring out a genuine theme in their performance that highlights the plights of blacks within most societies.
The theme in the performances is a genuine transcending of racism and other ethnic elements as highlighted in the book white trash (www.wnd.com). The performers attempt to burst the myths of racial segregation based on skin color asserting that it is just a matter of color. Either, the performance reveals that an individual’s skin color has no relation to his ability to perform. The performance also gives dimensions of narrative on the black’s victimhood. It brings out the hidden sufferings that black people have gone through within the American societies. As outlined in the article, the performance is a strong response of assertion on the thought that both blacks and whites are the same with the difference being just their skin color. The performers are bent on breaking the racial boundaries that have existed for long through giving a new dimension to the concept of racism.
In racist America roots, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy portrays himself as a systematic racist due to his stance and attitude on blacks. As a rancher, he is supposed to incur certain costs whenever his cattle go out to graze in the fields (www.nationalmemo.com). Cliven refuses to part with the service fee when his cattle graze on the public lands. Such stance and attitude make him be at loggerheads with a number of people. He further portrays his systematic racist attitude when he claims that Negros usually abort their kids and put their young men in jail due to their lack of knowledge of cotton harvesting within the cotton fields. He asserts that the blacks are better off as slaves rather than be under some government subsidy program. Such sentiments bring out his systematic racist attitude on blacks.
Sterling also portrays his systematic racist attitude especially when he tells a friend to stop publicizing her relationships with the blacks (www.nydailynews.com). He is quoted telling the lady friend to stop bringing the African-American men to his games. His argument that he gives his players certain goodies is rather irrational as these are the same people who work for him making him earn a living. The two men perpetuate systematic discrimination since they exhibit actions that portray their attitude towards the black race. To them, life revolves around their race superiority rather than accepting the equality within the two races.
In the readings this semester, various issues have emerged regarding racial prejudice. The most outstanding is the role race has played in forming an important part of organizational principles. As an individual, I have learnt the need to appreciate the racial diversity that exists within our society. Such a notion was guided through realizing that race does not portray our inequities rather it portrays various diverse abilities that when well exploited can transform our societies. Each and every individual within our race comes with some potential and abilities that needs to be put together towards achieving the best within societies. For the future societies to move past racial inclinations, decisive actions aimed at discouraging racial prejudice needs to be taken. A case study is that taken on Sterling by the NBA authority which is aimed at discouraging other racist minds from exploring racism further. The actions should come with grave consequences that leave one grounded as a way of passing the message to the masses that race should be anchored on principles with people deterred from exploiting it in a negative way.
