Lawrence Page was born in East Lansing, Michigan on 26th March 1973 to parents who were computer experts. His father, Carl Page, was a pioneer and expert in computer science and artificial intelligence. On the other hand, his mother taught computer programming at university. This made Larry Page to be exposed to computers and the internet. Lawrence was admitted to the University of Michigan in the faculty of engineering that later earned him a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. After his bachelors, Lawrence decided to pursue a career in computer engineering. He enrolled at Stanford University and studied computer engineering that later earned him a Masters degree in computer engineering.
Larry’s personality characteristics include: perseverance; creativity; risk-taking attitude; multi-talented; and visionary. Larry was always perseverant as they gradually laid foundations for a giant search engine, Google. Inspired by creativity, Larry was always top-notch in every move to master the internet search engine. He had numerous ideas that were, and still are, fundamental in Google’s foundation. Together with his co-founder, Sergey Brin, Larry undertook one of his biggest risks. They had to raise $1 million from family, colleagues and investors in order to launch Google officially. Larry can be described as a multi-talented person due to his ability to utilize his skills to propel Google at all fronts. He utilized his entrepreneurial skills and created massive opportunities to build wealth at an early age. He is also visionary from what he has established at Google. His strategic abilities and ability to view things in a long-term perspective has enabled Google to be founded on strong foundation.
Larry has been a calm leader, one with utmost dedication to his work. He had no chance to learn negative behaviors since his parents raised him on upright grounds bolstered by discipline. Indeed, going by Google’s motto: Don’t do evil, it is clear that he had set it up on a moral foundation. Further, his philosophy that “good is not god enough” has served to prove that indeed Larry has an upright behavior. He has thus been an upright person since his early years.
Through motivation, Larry has created a group of individuals who desire and strive to achieve more. Being an authentic leader, he has positively influenced his fellow employees’ self-esteem and commitment to work. As a result, this has stimulated employee identification at Google. This explains the reason why employee commitment and motivation at Google is so solid.
