Being a committed and gifted international student, I am applying to the USC Marshall School of Business. My devotion to exact sciences, such as math and physics, including but not limited to other fields, are of my genuine interest. I am the progeny of an entrepreneurial family, with well-developed family business roots in my country of origin. This family business forms a precious legacy, which my founding great grandfather envisaged to continue for the next generations. Started as a merchant firm, it expanded into a mid-sized company with its subsidiaries abroad. As a young boy, I observed the peculiarities of conducting a small business, starting from purchasing and selling of goods and stocks to customer satisfaction guarantee. Despite the hands-on broad experience, it did not fully satisfy my bursting curiosity. Inspired by the successful and thriving family owned commerce, I decided to pursue my hobby with stock exchange in order to broaden my father’s and grandfathers’ initial business. From the age of 15, I have already decided on the exact course of my professional career. As a mature student today, I understand that growth and innovation are the key factors in a flourishing family business environment. Being fortunate to complete IGCSEs in ACS Singapore, and receiving all A grades, I continued with my A level studies in Cranleigh School, in England. In addition to the exact sciences, I took a course in Economics at the boarding school.
The gradual transition from my childhood to adulthood was best manifested when I enrolled in a course by SGX Academy to obtain knowledge about investing and to start trading penny stocks in USA and Singapore market. I chose this course because it was led by leading industry practitioners, and provided modern economic outlook with Introduction to Securities and Trading, and a comprehensive Technical Analysis. A few months later, I secured an internship at RedDot in Singapore that invest in start-ups. An investor education is very powerful due to the fact that I plan to link my future with the world stock markets. My short-term goal, thereby, is to envisage my own small business and stock trading during my business studies at University in order to apply my fundamental investing knowledge. My long-term goal is to help my father take over his marine offshore company.
Gaining business skills are of paramount importance to me, since only then can I start contributing to my lifetime goals most effectively. I expect that the degree from the Marshall School of Business will grant a golden opportunity and prepare me for a business career in stock trading sector with a superior choice between varied career options. I am, thereby, passionate to develop my essential skills to an advanced level and establish meaningful contacts in the industry sector. I am also aware that becoming an entrepreneur means that my business will involve risk-taking and a daily presence of other factors that need to be covered. As an innovative student, I am primarily seeking to find a business opportunity that is the best for me in the long run. At this level of my studies, I am aware that a startup firm can focus on one or two business opportunities, for instance, borrowing an existing service and offering it in a market segment where it is not accessible.
