Even for the untrained eyes, it is overwhelmingly evident that the global climate has undergone dramatic changes. While growing up, it was so easy for anybody to make an almost accurate weather prediction, like when to expect rains or shine, and when the winter was approaching. Farmers relied solely on their past knowledge of consistent seasonal changes until the era of global warming and climate changes made it impossible.
Climatic change is currently the world’s major contentious issue. Based on several events, it is conclusively evident that climatic change is the reason why so many animals have gone extinct. As a child, the world was a beautiful place, full of trees, streams, rivers and lakes. Wild animals, insects and birds of all kinds dotted the green expanse. Childhood games entailed hunting of the little monsters that were harmless, multi-colored butterflies were a favorite catch. The air was fresh, no incidences of fatal flu and colds of our time.
Looking around now, all one can see is skyscrapers; tall buildings have replaced the tall trees and shrubs. The animals have been left homeless and with no place to call home nor procreate. They have just gone extinct. It no longer rains when farmers expect rains winters are extremely cold and the heat burns with a vengeance during summer. There is no single doubt that climatic changes have occurred right before my eyes, despite the few years on earth.
Climatic changes have a huge impact on biodiversity and are a significant threat even in the years to come. Civilization may be good for human development, but detrimental to the environment. Cutting down a tree with no replacements has led to low precipitation and the changing rainfall patterns. Drought is now rampant, and all these are significantly killing the rich biodiversity. Where are the beautiful butterflies? The singing of birds has gone silent, all because the climate changed.
