Curriculum. Curriculum is develop in compliance with the national standards and created together by the vice principle and approved the head of the school. The subjects taught in the educational facility are standard as well, as the school does not specialize on any specific subjects.
Leadership. The management of the school uses the traditional supervision techniques that usually resemble authoritarian leadership, as initiative is often overlooked and the communication is hierarchal rather than mutually benefitting. In order to improve student learning, the educators supposed to use motivation and pressure, which often resemble operant conditioning methods.
Development. Professional development may be acquired by undergoing training interventions, researching scientific literature, practicing new methods of teaching and communicating, improving personality skills by growing as a professional and individual. I applied all of the techniques, where the practical methods proved to be more effective.
Resources and Purpose. Student learning can be improved by individual approach to their needs and by demonstrating respect for them as individuals. Both material and empirical resources have to be used by the school to benefit the students and develop democratic values of equity and diversity to improve the quality of interaction with each other and the outside world.
Evaluation of Six Goals for Learning
Effective teaching strategy does not include one-dimensional approach for not limiting the students in their skills, abilities, and talents. A fully developed person has to master a list of skills that will enable him or her to function effectively in the society, achieve happiness, and have tools for further development as a professional and as individual. In this case, basic skills have to become a fundament of education, where the students will recognize the situation or cause-and-effect relationship. For mastering the basic skills, the teacher has to explain a particular phenomenon, demonstrate it using an example, implement in practice, provide the feedback and continue practicing the skill. This model has to be applied in teaching all kinds of subjects, from literature to chemistry, as theory without practice and inability to apply knowledge is pointless. For example, the students are provided information about the period of romanticism, where poetry played an essential part. In order to encourage the students, the teacher can propose to develop a poem with the element of romanticism by each student with the further feedback and evaluation. Such a practice will enable the students to acknowledge the different styles, themes, and forms of poetry as well as develop the aesthetic sense. During the lessons of chemistry, an educator may take the products utilized by students and evaluate their chemical composition. It will allow the students to realize the utility of Chemistry and practicality of the theoretical as well as empirical data.
Further on, the teachers have to develop specific skills that will sophisticate the knowledge of the students. One of the examples is mastering classical culture that involves reading the works of the well-known authors, listening to the lectures, and applying the principles of the Socratic discussion. In this case, the educators have not only to persuade the students to encounter with the works of the greatest authors, but motivate and develop interest to them. These goals may be attained by creating a dialog among students by making the evaluation of a particular work practical and applicable. These skills are usually related to the humanitarian sciences, specifically to literature and philosophy. The main goal here is to acknowledge the students with the high culture and develop essential values encapsulated in the literary texts. Applicability of this knowledge can be developed by, for example, taking the dialogs from the classical texts to the real life and making it more relevant for the students. For instance, using Dostoyevsky’s “Crime and Punishment”, it is possible to generate a discussion about the nature of crime and moral ability of a person to kill, which can be used both on the lessons of literature and philosophy as well as the lessons of history and legislation.
Problem-solving skills are vital for development of individual, as all processes experienced by humans involve critical thinking ability. A teacher is supposed to expose the students to real-life issues, involve them into the testing possible solutions and finally, reaching resolution of a problem. All lessons can use this framework in providing knowledge to the students. By implementation of logical and sequential steps in targeting and solving a problem, the students acquire critical thinking skills. While the lessons in math are the most vivid examples in resolution of a certain problem, where logical steps are quite evident; during the lessons of English or a foreign language it is not that evident to the students. Yet this model can be applied in the case of language learning by presenting the data on grammar as a schematic framework that has its specific rules and consequences. A teacher may give several exercises where the sentences are intentionally incorrect and the task for the students will be to allocate the mistakes, correct, and explain the decision.
Personal development of the students is essential, as all people live in social groups that ought to interact and collaborate with each other. In this case, self-directed learning and self-assessment will be the most helpful skills to develop among children, as they will help to understand oneself which leads to the understanding of others. It is considered that all humans explore the outside world on the basis of their experience, where understanding personal abilities and acknowledging mistakes may help to develop the students personally and professionally. The development of these skills is also universal, as it is possible to implement them within the framework of every subject. For example, it is possible to ask students to provide self-assessment reports after the major milestones in a specific subject. In this case, social development skills will connect to the personal abilities. By using cooperative learning and community building activities, the teachers will enable the students to collaborate with the group, learn how to work in teams, how unity affects the productivity, and how to build efficient community. This principle is encapsulated in the values and believes of the country making social development of individual crucial for the nation. The educators can elaborate group activities by providing the tasks for the group or the entire class and make children to self-regulate their collaboration.
Finally, the skills of critical inquiry are more sophisticated abilities that have to be taught cautiously. It is important to teach the students to question their initial judgment regarding a phenomenon, an event, or the entire political system. These skills are linked to the critical thinking and enable the students to effectively evaluate the objectivity and fairness of judgment, reveal if the power figures pursue their interests, and encourage learning sciences. In order to improve these skills, the educators have to teach the students of developing counterarguments, which will allow them to see the alternatives in their actions and judgments.
