Producers are the organisms that capture the Sun’s energy and convert this energy into a usable form of energy for themselves or others. Examples of producers in grassland include shrubs, trees, lichens, mosses and grass, etc. Consumers are the organisms having no way of capturing the Sun’s energy and rely on energy gained from producers or other consumers. Examples of consumers in grassland include elks, black bear, Western rattlesnake, red-tailed hawk, etc. Decomposers are the organisms that break the organic layer in the soil in order to provide nutrients to the producers. Examples of decomposers in grassland include insects, fungi, bacteria, and algae, etc. Herbivores are the organisms that consume producers’ energy only. These include elks in grassland. Carnivores are the organisms that consume other consumers’ energy only. These include Western rattlesnake. Omnivores are the organisms that are able to consumer both producers’ as well as consumers’ energy. These include black bear. Interaction between herbivores and carnivores is not pleasant in which herbivores try to avoid carnivores to maximum possible extent. Carnivores, on the other hand, are after the herbivores since they rely only energy gained from consuming the consumers. Omnivores are less violent / aggressive towards other consumers as compared to carnivores and may live on producers’ energy. Humans have either started farming in grasslands around the globe which has restricted access of the herbivores to the producers (fenced farms) or these lands have been wiped off by industrialization which has removed the producers while increasing pollution. Both of these situations have resulted in starvation of herbivores. The starvation of herbivores has contributed towards reduced population of herbivores hence resulting in fewer consumers available for carnivores. Omnivores have also suffered shortage of food since there is a shortage of producers as well as consumers. Humans are trying to plant trees in industrialized areas to reduce pollution and increase producers population for herbivores. In the case of fenced farms, humans have yet not allowed herbivores to enter into farm for consumption of producers by herbivores. The efforts put in by humans for biodiversity as well as ecosystem stabilization are not sufficient in my point of view since in case of farms, there is still not such effort seen, and in case of going green in industry, the local administration do not give sufficient room to consumers to move freely while consuming producers or other consumers. In fact, carnivores are highly affected by human development due to the high risk faced by humans themselves from carnivores.
