Beginning with the sixth meeting, we proceeded to Tuckman’s performing stage. At this time, every member brought their first draft of the work. As our third meeting had involved a great deal of discussion regarding opinion, this time our conversations relating to each part of the work went very smoothly and efficiently, thus allowing us to continue. The Easter holiday kept us from meeting again until April 7, and from that point on we met more frequently, generally twice a week. At the subsequent meetings each member exchanged a draft with other people from the group, following which any shortcomings were discussed and recommendations forwarded. If we encountered difficult questions, we always went to our workshop to ask our tutor. Members then went away to reflect and improve the report.
Based on Belbin’s group roles (Belbin, 1981), top-performing teams are built with a balance of nine basic roles—with each team member performing a role (or roles) that reflect their unique, inherent strengths. In our group, one person could have more than one role in the project, and there are multiple members who share in playing a common role. However, every person has different responsibilities.
In this way, in our group people could help and influence each other just by participating in the meetings. E does not have fluent English speaking skills, so she does not want to speak very much in our meetings. C as the leader, does not give up but instead tries to encourage her to build her skills and asks her additional questions in the meetings. This is one reason why I think C does a really good job acting as the completer. At last, E became more positive and gave our group a number of helpful tips.
Entrepreneurship teaching and learning
Over the course of the last few years, ‘entrepreneurship’ has become a familiar word in my academic career. Obviously, it is easier to become an entrepreneur if you already have some seed money to begin with. However, this report showed me how difficult is for any entrepreneur to find success. First, a sense of vision will decide your company’s future; an insightful vision can help you in taking control of your niche within your particular market. Second, I found that the business plan is the most important thing in entrepreneurship. When people want to create a new business, he must to have a comprehensive business strategy which includes: market trends, potential market, competitors, managing team, operation plan and financial information. Without a plan, a goal is only a dream. Finally, a working team is necessary, because one person cannot operate a whole company by himself. Instead, he needs a strong team to support his work.
Group adjourning stage
The sixteenth meeting is the last one for our group, for the five members finishing their third year of study, it is their last group meeting at the school. During this meeting, we proofread and edited our work one final time and made the last improvements. Following this, we printed all of the work work and handed it in to the university. The overall feeling was one of satisfaction, with everyone feeling that we had worked very effectively together. Although we spent much time on it, the process gave us the confidence to pursue group projects in the future..
