Every morning a person makes decisions that affect his entire day: what to wear. While it is possible to do this without putting much thought into it, society inevitably judges, positively or negatively what you are wearing and use that to make assumptions about whom you are as a person. This is why it is so important to wear something that not only reflects you, but also is neutral at worst people’s judgment of who you are as a person.
There are two big considerations one must contemplate prior to deciding what to wear. The first is, where are you going? Certain events, ceremonies, or places require a certain dress code. That has a lot to do with common sense. The second part is a bit more difficult.
We have all heard the phrase, “pulling it off,” as in, “Girl, you are pulling off that dress.” But what does that really mean? Especially for men, who in our society do not talk as opening about what they where.
Over 3,000 years ago Socrates made his famous pronouncement, “Know thyself.” Building your own style is as simple as that, which, is not simple at at. Basically, who are you? What kind of cloths do you want to wear. You do not want to follow certain styles simply because they are popular. The idea is to figure out what cloths reflect your personality. Given all the available styles and options, and removing all of the layers of peer pressure to dressa certain way, what would you want to wear. What would make you walk before the mirror and see yourself visually as you see yourself? In the answer to that question lies the answer to what your style should look like.
