Summary
This article explores the common causes of air pollution nowadays, which attribute to either chemical or gas and their effects on the human body. The article examines how such harmful remittances hamper the proper functionality of sensitive organs such as the lungs and the heart. The author divided the effects into long and short-term to match with its resultant effects on the bodily organs. The author’s aim is to look into the specific effects and their adverse impact on the human body. One of the standout effects is how inhalation of dirty air affects premature mortality. The correlation between dirty air and deaths of younger Americans in industrial areas is attributed to the respiratory complications that arise as a result of improper functionality of the bodily organs (Kampa et al 366).
How the article relates to Human physiology
This article studies air pollution and its detrimental effects on the proper functioning of the human body. A strong bond between this article and physiology of the man is observed since the latter studies about normal functioning of our bodies. Physiological functioning in the article refer to normal co-ordination of bodily organs and stable health that facilitates the continuity of life. Another important point as discussed in the article is how the functionality of organs is altered by uptake of contaminated air (Pope et al 730). If any of these mechanisms is subdued, the body is affected in terms of sickness and premature death. A further initiative of the research would be to focus on how the organs of the body can be biologically induced to withstand the changes within a specified period (Evans et al 122).
