Life is filled with uncertainty, because at times we think we are trailing one path then all of a sudden we encounter someone or something that will change the course of our life for good. Life’s unpredictability showed me that I am still a project in the making. I believe that the choices I made in life are the compilation of my everyday encounters that molded my decision to pursuing this monumental career decision.
My name is (name), I earned my degree in English Literature from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. My background in English Literature made me passionate in pursuing communication and how it impacts people. Language is a powerful tool that paradoxically unites and divides people. My stint as an intern at Berlitz Language Center allowed me to gauge myself for in my field. I incorporated my skills in completing the required number of hours. However, I viewed my internship not as a requirement but as an opportunity for me to grow as a professional. I encountered various people from different walks of life and cultural background. To add to my experience, I was also given the chance to work at Riyad Bank that allowed me to develop my proficiency in communication. It added to my will to serve other people. My experiences in the different institutions made me realize how valuable communication is to people. As a result of my various professional experiences, I developed my self-confidence especially in interacting with people. It made me more diligent, responsible independent and will in serving people.
I consider myself as a people-person, where I love interacting with different people because I view interaction as a vital component in my development as an individual and as a professional. In this light, I would like to apply for your graduate program in Human Resource Design because I share the same sentiment as the program. Leadership is not just a skill; it incorporates many factors that impact society and the organization. The degree demands many things from its student, but with my compassion and dedication to learn, I know I can overcome it and perform at the best of my abilities. It is with great desire that I want to be part of Human Resource Design at Claremont Graduate University.
Despite me not pursuing graduate studies immediately after graduating, I know I spent my time wisely because it made me realize what I truly want in my life. I ventured in works related to my previous degree, but as time progresses I knew and saw that life had other plans for me. I chose to enroll in the program because I know I am fit for it. I do not regret taking my English degree because it taught me much about life. It made me value my potential as a person.
I recognize that the transition will not be easy, but I am willing to take on the challenge. This big step in my career will show me how I par with the graduate degree I decided to venture in. Although Human Resource maybe far from my original degree, my experiences in life showed me why I want to pursue it. Graduate education will allow me to hone my potential as a person; it will open more opportunities for me. More importantly, it will allow me to contribute more in society through the use of the lessons I will learn in the degree. I may have decided to take a different route from what I took in the past, but to be honest; I see my future in this route. I do not regret my choices before because they laid out the foundation of who I am today. What is important is I made myself productive before, and now I am prepared to take on another chapter in my career.
