Labor Environment for Unions
Labor unions impact the performance of an organizations as well as also impact on the role of human resource management therefore when a HR manager is hired it is also seen that whether the manager is able to deal with the labor management issues. Labor union means that according to act of national labor relations all employees have right to form a union in which they can use their bargaining power with the organizations. In organizations where unions are formed have to pay higher wage rate to their employees for their productivity .these unions safeguard the rights of all employees. In unionized organization management team and labor union enter into a contract for accomplishment of a specific contract (Rathzel, Uzzel, 2013).
Unionization leads towards the high wage rate at the cost of fewer jobs and the companies that have not unions of such type will show the lower wage rate. Management of an organization where there is no labor union there might be conflict among employees and management and they can give low wage rate to employees while in unionized labor organizations negotiation is use to avoid conflicts between management and employees. It is necessary for an organization to hire such human resource managers that have command to address theses management and union conflicts. Labor unions also impact the overall economy sometime it makes the system inefficient. Companies that have labor unions have to pay high wage rate thus increasing the overall cost of the production and cause the cost push inflation (UNEP, 2007).
Major International Laws or Regulations
Before hiring employees outside from the country it is necessary that u should know about all the laws and regulations. One most important law is immigration and nationality act (INA).this law fulfill the requirement of eligibility criteria of employees and verifications of employees. Employee eligibility verification is done by filling form 1-9 .in this all documents of the employees are verified and it is checked that whether that employee is fit for that job or not. This act allows hiring the foreign workers when necessary for the organizations (Gladstone, Wheeler, 1992).
The legal status of the employees is also being checked out. Another law is fair employment practices (non discriminations).according to this act it is checked that there should be no discrimination on the basis of citizenship and immigration status. In hiring employee outside of the country many legal issues are being addressed like all the security issues are being solved and issues regarding tax status are sorted out before hiring. A proper agreement is being done between the organization and that employee and in case of breach of contract consequences will also be known by employer. It is agreed in contract that any information about the organization that is confidential should not be disclosed by employer. And also it is important for the company that it should check the legal status of employee from that country government data for security reason, in case of no match letter it means that data provided by employee is not matched with the data available at government then avoid sudden action .but further investigation will be done for this purpose (Taylor, 1991).
