Computer plays a vital role in our society and it is important in the digital literacy . The computer hardware and the computer software differ in terms of its appearances and functions. Computer hardware is the physical device that is utilized in or with the machine while the computer software is the collection of code that is installed into the hard drive of the computer.
Computer hardware is described as a device that is connected physically to the computers or touched physically. The CD-ROM, printer, video card, and printer are some of the examples of the computer hardware. The computer would not exist and software would nothing to run on without any hardware. Computer hardware can also be described as the physical part of a computer that includes the digital circuitry. This digital circuitry is distinguished from the computer software that executes in the hardware.
Computer software is described as a collection of computer programs, documentation, and procedures that perform tasks on the computer system . In addition, the computer system has three major classes such as programming, system, and application software. It has an ordered sequence of instructions that changes the state of the computer hardware in particular sequences. Software is written in high-level languages of programming; however, it is easy and efficient for the users to utilize that is closer to natural language than the machine language.
The two most important hardware innovations are IBM 360 and processor and the two most important software innovations are OS and Drivers . The IBM 360 performed its functions that range from complex mathematics in laboratories and from simpler to repetitive calculations in terms of business. In addition, IBM 360 is a host of peripherals or the extended devices that are connected to computers to enhance the capability such as storage devices and printers. A processor enabled the computer to become personal; a single processor can be used in any type of computer as long as the software changed. It is easier to change software programs than to redesign processors. The OS or Operating System is designed to perform important functions. It has no specific user or function, it is used to play games, Skype, send electronic mails, post Instagram pictures, update Facebook, or develop spreadsheets. The Drivers or Device Drivers are known as small computer programs. However, it allows advanced applications share data with hardware. For example, the device driver for Microsoft Word or the advanced application sends data to a printer or scanner.
