The Love Letter & Breakup Letter are both great methods for companies to gain more insight into what their happy or unsatisfied customers are feeling. One way to show a class just how good these methods are is to try them in class. However, apart from doing the standard exercise where everyone would write their own break up letter or love letter and then read it, the class can work as a group together to compose one letter.
It is very likely that other people share some concerns that people have about a product or service. The same goes for great products. If one person is super happy with a product, chances are, he or she is not the only one. In order to get a class to write one single letter together, the first step is choosing a brand and a side: love or hate.
In order to pick a brand, product or service, the teacher or one leader needs to compile two lists on the blackboard of products that people suggest writing about: ones they love and ones they want to break up with. After a vote, one or a maximum of two products are to be chosen. If two products are chosen and people do not want to write about a single one, the class can be split into two groups who then work together to write the letter. However, it is better for the whole class to participate by choosing one product.
Once the product is selected, students can compose sentences one by one. This will allow everyone to take part and for no one to be left out. In the end, the class would have worked on making one great break up or love letter. This would be a group achievement and chances are that it will be a fun one too. After the letter is complete, the homework assignment would be to build a strategy for the company they were writing about to grow, change and improve based on this very letter. Suggestions are to be brought to class and analyzed next time.
