Good Macbeth Essay Example

“Macbeth” is one of the bloodiest tragedies by Shakespearean and has everything. The essay discusses the character of Lady Macbeth in the movie "Macbeth” which is a good adaptation of the play.
In the movie, Lady Macbeth looks stately, elegant and poised. She speaks very softly and in a controlled manner. She is charming and completely devoted to her husband. She is shown to be innocent and victimized when she gets involved in the murder plot. The objectives the chosen character are to make sure Macbeth is king. Her obstacles are that in order to complete her ambition, she will need the help of the evil powers and has to steel herself to allow the spirits of evil to enter her. The character arc of Lady Macbeth is that while she is the most feminine and looks innocent, she can be the most evil in order to complete her desires. The movie shows how a great solider succubus to the typical feminine manipulation of his wife.
The weird sisters play an import at role in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth relays on them completely for making further plans that are based on their prophecies. She consults them repeatedly and their "artificial sprites". If directing the play, I would portray the weird sisters to be completely normal from the outside and use psychological states to show their witchcraft. They will be the connection between the supernatural and the natural world, but in more subtle way. The situation that precedes the play shows a wounded soldier informing King Duncan of Macbeth’s victory. He is illustrious but become corrupt because of his desire to be the King of Scotland and when he meets the witches. He falls from the rank of hero of the nation to the tragic state of a ruined one, because of a flaw in his character. The plot of Macbeth shows that the evil resides in every human being, only one has to provoke it to get alive.
The incident where Macbeth gives in to Lady Macbeth strong desire for ambition starts the tuning point. She leads him astray and her ambition far exceeds than Macbeth. Finally she is able to convince him in agreeing to murder King Duncan. Macbeth faces internal crises throughout as he worries constantly, often gives in to his vivid imagination and gets hallucinations of the dangers of the murderous plot and the ghosts. He struggles between his sense of morality and his ambition.
The climax of the play is the murder of Duncan by Macbeth and thereafter how he is forced to butcher his subjects so as to avoid the consequences of his crime. Macbeth ends with the battle at Dunsinane Castle. Macbeth relishes by now that he has been on a wrong path and been made a fool of by the witches and led away by his over ambitious wife. However, the play doesn’t seem to resolve to a final end and leaves several questions for the audience.
A historical figure that reminds of Macbeth can be found in Hercules, where a similar situation occurs and how Hades convinces the witch to tell him about his future and defeating Zeus before he can rule Mount Olympus. One cannot blame Lady Macbeths’ manipulation but it was also the ambition of Macbeth which led him to his downfall. If I was directing the piece, I would set it in the modern period and base the characters on plot of the play. The production would be more towards realism and the aim would be to display the essence of the original play by Shakespeare in the movie and make sure they bear the same character and mind set. The essence of the play lies in how over greed and over ambition can destroy the character as well as the man himself.
