Zappos’s success could not be made possible if it is for its CEO, Tony Hsieh’s effort and motivation to make an appropriate working environment for his employees. His concept of company culture is the reason as to why Zappos has reached a milestone. It is also what made him and his employees to be dedicated a work (Hollender).
Ever since he was a college student, Hsieh had already set his minds to become an entrepreneur. In an interview made by Reiss, Hsieh’s outlook towards becoming a successful entrepreneur and eventual company owner, is by setting an example for the employees. For him, the owner, first and foremost, must show a sense of dedication in his work. As long as the owner has this kind of behavior with him, profits will surely follow, no matter what obstacles that the company might face (Reiss).
Hsieh has always incorporated his vision into his workplace, His most prominent retailing business, Zappos, has a unique strategy which will not be found in other small or well-known companies. Unlike profit analysis and any other typical business strategies, Hsieh’s main focus towards the development of his company relies on company culture (Hollender). He believes that providing his employees a workplace that makes them comfortable enough to stay longer will enable them to become more motivated to work. Because of this, the employees will become more dedicated and their primary goal, which is to provide a high quality customer service, will be met successfully.
Tony Hsieh’s motivational achievement does not revolve around himself, but to the people who are involved in his venture, particularly his employees. Also, this kind of idea will make people realize that working is not just about earning money, but also for learning and for creating a meaningful environment with other people.
