YouTube video: “What It’s Like to Lose Someone to Suicide”
People are sad, miserable, with tears in their eyes. It is difficult for them to talk about what happened.
They could not believe it was true, hoped it was a mistake. They very shocked, wanted to double-check everything.
People felt like a part of their life was taken away. Memories of the holidays and fun times they had with their loved ones continue to come up unexpectedly. It made people very sad and cry.
They think that the lack of communication, sharing on the emotional level were the reasons of suicides.
The best way to prevent suicide is a dialog between people, conversations, listening to each other’s problems. There is nothing wrong with having a cry or a hug.
YouTube video: “Brittany Maynard Legislative Testimony”
The purpose of Brittany in this video is to press for letting terminally ill people to control their own life and the right of death with dignity by authorizing aid in dying.
At the time Brittany recorded a video, she has lived already 10 month with diagnosis of brain tumor. She had to move to Oregon from California, as it was one of the five states that provide aid in dying.
The reasons are that the government cannot chose for a terminally ill patient when and how to dye and how much to suffer before it happens; every person should have a right to make their own choice; Brittany wanted to die in the arms of her husband and family, in her own home, not being alone and hospitalized.
I would support Brittanie’s choice. Her words really make sense. I think she did a great job by fighting for terminally ill people’s rights.
Ted Talk: “Let’s Talk about Dying,” by Peter Saul
Peter Saul’s main idea is that people, especially authorities, do not want to talk about death and possible ways of dying. It is difficult for people to accept it because they are afraid to do it.
According to Peter Saul, it is important to die well as it will greatly reduce the level of stress on the patient and on their families.
Peter Saul is an opponent of euthanasia, but thinks that people have to choose this option on their own and, what is more important, to know that they have this option.
