How easy or challenging was it to find organically grown foods?
How were the organic foods labeled?
Basically, there were some organic supermarkets, where you can buy organic products for cheap. But if we are talking about ordinary supermarket there were such labels as : “100% organic”, “Fresh produce”, “Fresh local produce” and “Organic”. Observing this mark you can be sure, that the product is fresh and grown in natural conditions. According to Mayo Clinic Staff(2014)” Any product labeled as organic must be USDA certified. Only producers who sell less than $5,000 a year in organic foods are exempt from this certification; however, they're still required to follow the USDA's standards for organic foods”. So, this label is also widespread at the market.
If your local grocery store, discount outlet, or farmer’s market does not regularly stock organic foods what is the reason for it?
As far as I know, some owners claim that it is not an easy task to find a good provider. Anyway, it depends a lot on region and harvest. If the harvest was not good you can not expect a good supply of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Discuss any cost difference you found. How would you explain the price difference to clients?
In my opinion, all the prices are reasonable. Organic food is more expensive than conventional. This is a common way, because even the youngest customer knows the difference between organic and conventional food. So, if you see a label “ Organic” the higher price is obvious. But, it has a positive aspect to economy. According to Lawrence Robinson, Jeanne Segal, Ph.D., and Robert Segal, M.A. Last ( 2016) “Money stays within the local economy. More money goes directly to the farmer, instead of to things like marketing and distribution”.
