1) Organizational architecture is the formal or the official layout of various departments in the company, their hierarchal structure, control and work specialization. In contrast, organizational culture is what identifies an organization, i.e. the values which employees share and control the way the organization runs. Both these aspects are crucial and for any successful organization, both of them should go hand in hand, and firm that blends this efficiently is Facebook.
The culture and the belief with which their employees work on daily basis and are recognized, is seen in their organizational architecture. While the employees are given the freedom to think out of the box and complete the tasks with their own judgement(but under the stipulated architectural parameters), they are offered to work in catchy campuses, are offered lucrative bonuses, free meals, celebrates Valentine and X-Mas weeks, provides Mac Book, IPhone, et cetera, just to make sure that the employees get their due recognition for assisting the company in achieving its objectives. Such instance of organizational culture blends perfectly with the organizational architecture.
2) Unfortunately, Billy Riggan is facing free-riders who are happy pushing of responsibilities weights from their shoulders and are ready to ride on work being completed by Billy. On the other hand, Billy, being the in-charge person of technical development, has a sense of responsibility to get the task done even if no one else is in the job hierarchy is doing his job efficiently. In my opinion, he cannot raise this issue to higher level also as this may put a bad reflection on his managerial skills.
3) Always Round Table is using the principle of seniority to promote floor supervisors and team managers. This promotion principle works apt at lower levels leaving any scope of favoritism or nepotism. Moreover, this practice is in accordance to the traditional blue collar society which prohibits a younger person from becoming the boss of an older person, thus also maintaining a harmonious environment at the work place.
However, this promotion strategy may not work efficiently for higher-level positions as for a person to be promoted to high level position, he needs to be rewarded on merit based policy so as to motivate him/her as advance level positions needs individuals who put maximum efforts and is result oriented. Therefore, if the company will follow seniority principle for higher level promotions also, the employees may not put that extra effort at the workplace knowing they will not be promoted because of their young age.
