Women and Gender Studies: Reaction Paper to Inocente
The short documentary with the title of Inocente works to highlight the reality that included the influence that one’s family life has on his or her life. The financial prosperity can have a great psychological value for him or her as well. The central character of the documentary did not have anything in her life that was working in her favor because she was a member of a poor family that had colored background. The poverty did not let her have a wonderful childhood as a child, and she did lean in order to have toys, but her parents could not afford expensive ones for her. She developed artistic personality during the youthful years of her life, and therefore, the tough past served her well as if it was a blessing in the disguise.
The society did not accept her as an artist as well because people did not consider her thoughts as valuable due to her racial and social background. Inocente grew in a home where domestic violence was more of a norm, and she blamed herself for the conditions of her household, and she wanted to do something about the suppressed women in the society, and because of this very reason, she became an artist so that she can represent her feelings and emotions through her work. The toughest social and economic conditions helped in the breeding of a very lively artist who was determined to prove her worth in front of the society. She had a long road to travel and for her there were no victories, but she had to suffer through harshness of society that suspended the basic human rights of her family because they were illegal immigrants. She never earned the right to receive formal education of good quality, but she had a natural gift, and she was going to enlighten the future of her home by using her talents.
