I chose the pay for performance theory because it shows a clear relationship between performance and payment in an organization. This theory clearly elaborates the impact on the motivation of employees in the form of rewards and bonuses. This theory also helps in appealing to the direct motives and financial needs of the employees that have a very great influence in motivating people to work hard for the organization.
I think the pay for performance theory works because the bonuses and stocks help in boosting the psyche and morale of employees in performing various tasks and duties of the organization. This form of motivation helps the organization to achieve high levels of production and performance as the individuals strive to get bonuses and rewards.
The pay and performance theory works on the basis that the employees work very hard and smart in order to receive rewards in forms of bonuses. The bonuses, therefore, drives the workers towards higher levels of production as they struggle to seek rewards and bonuses. The pitfalls in this theory may arise when the workers concentrates only on the quantity of work while neglecting the quality of work.
As a manager, I will take into account the behaviors of employees in relation to their amount of salaries and wages. This will help me in determining the amounts of bonuses to be paid to the employees based on the levels of output per each worker should also take into account the quality of work of each worker in order to determine the levels of bonuses and rewards.
The pay for performance is similar to my current work place because the workers are paid on the basis of work performed. The aspects relating to bonuses and overtime payments are still present in my current place of work.
