“Follow your passion, and success will follow you.”Terri Guillemets
Even though I have spent the past ten years as a Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistant and work part-time at Dragula Cycle, my career interest has changed from the operating room to the manager’s office.
My interest in obtaining an MBA and advancing into management started after discovering there’s a need in the field of healthcare; and realizing that I can contribute and gain more personal career satisfaction being able to impact the lives of patients outside of the operating room.
Texas A&M Commerce ranked 5th in US News and World Report, as well as “Tier 2” in the 2014 edition of Best Colleges. Your academic program is known for providing quality AACSB accredited programs and a world-class faculty. Therefore, it’s at the top of my selection list.
During undergraduate study at Grand Canyon University, I maintained a GPA of 3.17. This academic achievement clearly shows that I’m capable of being a successful MBA student. And in preparation for graduate study, this year I attended Small Business Start-up and Business Plan workshops at the Small Business Development Center in Dallas.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare management opportunities are projected to grow 23 percent from 2012 to 2022. With the baby-boomers’ population, an increase demand for quality medical services in several environments (e.g., hospitals, healthcare facilities, nursing homes, group medical practices) will continue to provide a stable, long-term rewarding career.
My short-term goal is to continue part-time work at the hospital and Dragula Cycle while attending graduate school. My long-term goal after earning an MBA is to obtain a management position at a local hospital.
I am determined, driven, and dedicated to fulfill my passion to successfully enter management. And provided the opportunity at your prestigious university, I will meet all academic challenges and become a graduate that Texas A&M Commerce can be proud of.
