Business is an essential part of the world in which we live. Whatever the specific commercial activity, every one of us is affected by it, and is in some way involved on a daily basis, either directly or indirectly. Business management is the particular aspect of business which inspires and excites me. Although my interests cover a broad spectrum, both within business and outside of it, it is the management aspects that especially appeal to me, offering an environment with multiple demands and challenges.
My principal motivation in applying for this course in Business Management is to enhance my existing business knowledge and expertise, so that I will be ideally qualified to follow in my father’s footsteps and successfully grow our family business. Having already gained experience working in that business, I am familiar with the processes and know that I need to hone my skills and to gain a wider business perspective, which I believe is essential to facilitate the expansion and diversification that will secure its long-term success. I am well aware that acquiring additional theoretical background of core business concepts is vitally important if I am to achieve my objective of a successful business management career. I am also fully committed to working hard so that I will achieve the highest educational outcomes that I am confident will amply repay me in the longer-term. My acquired knowledge and skills will help me to fulfil my personal business ambitions, and will give me greater ability to be a major influence in the expansion and development of the family business.
My previous areas of involvement in our family business have been controlling the flow of products into and out of the business and managing the budgets. I was also responsible for securing and taking care of new clients. Even before that, having been raised in a business-oriented family environment, I always took a keen interest in other successful and apparently well-managed businesses. Whilst my current focus is necessarily on the theoretical aspects of business management, I realize that practical, hands-on experience is invaluable too, which is why my past time assisting in the day-to-day running of our family business was so worthwhile. I can relate topics that come up in my college studies to the real-life events and situations that I have encountered previously. In a number of instances, I am now able to see how I could have done things differently then, in order to achieve a better outcome. To achieve real success, it is vital to know your business thoroughly, and being directly involved in every kind of operation that the business includes is without doubt an excellent method of acquiring a detailed knowledge of all the specific business processes. That knowledge can bring the added benefit of thereby becoming better equipped to make the best business decisions.
My academic background began with a total of eight years of study in schools in my homeland of Russia; then I relocated to England at the age of 15 years. At the highly-rated co-educational Box Hill School in Dorking, Surrey I completed my IGSCE in English and obtained an “A” grade in the Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET). I also passed other GCSEs including Mathematics and Business studies. Currently, I am on a Business Foundation course at the excellent CATS College in Bloomsbury Square, London, taking as my chosen subjects Business, Economics and Mathematics.
On a personal note, I am currently 19 years of age. I am naturally outgoing, with excellent interpersonal and team-working skills. A key element of my character is that if I have a goal to achieve, I will do anything to succeed. I enjoy voluntary work, which I find can bring intense personal satisfaction. For example, back in Russia I organized a concert which raised a total of 23,500 roubles (around £300) for an orphaned children’s charity.
I have absolutely no doubt that my future success will be enhanced due to the expert knowledge I can obtain from the business management course at university. I am looking forward to it with great enthusiasm.
