Executive Summary
Charity Alliance is a non-governmental organization that deals with assisting families that are homeless in Boston, United States. This organization has been in operation for ten years, and has helped many families to get housing facilities. To a greater extent, the organization has also provided the basic needs of the respective families as a measure to caution the assisted groups. There are various opportunities for the organization to expand its mandate to other states in America. Many states have a challenge of dealing with the homelessness. Through an expanded mandate, the organization would be able to assist many families who have no place to call home. A specific state where an opportunity to expand exists, is the state of Arizona. Many people are faced with the challenge of homelessness in this particular state and a venture into this area would be much welcome.
Non-governmental organizations have been accused in the past, creating small centers of power through their activities. The organizations have been accused of having undue influence on the masses. As a result, there exist suspicion between those in political offices and the organizations. This sometimes works to the disadvantage of the people who are deserving of the help. Operations are sometimes hampered as the political office holders and the organizations trade accusations. However, there is a need for a concerted effort to have the organizations work hand in hand with the leaders to ensure harmony (Mack, 2007). Charity Alliance as an organization seeks to make mends with the respective leaders. This is to ensure there are no confrontations. In essence, this would only work for the good of the people need assistance.
Government Relations
The relationship between the government and non-governmental organizations are very critical. Any support from the government works well for the good of the company. As a matter of priority, Charity Alliance would partner with the government. The terms of relations would be based on how the government can assist more people by working with the organization (Fonjong, 2007). Government has a responsibility of taking care of the citizenry’s basic needs like housing facilities and other incentives that would make the people comfortable. The government would be asked to help with providing the statistics of the number of people who are homeless. Provision of other social amenities would be given to the government while the primary responsibility of Charity Alliance would be to provide housing facilities to those identified by the government. This would ease the organizations work. This partnership with the government is necessary and critical.
Alliance
The organization would seek alliances with others to make it possible for mandate expansion. In this sense, charity organization would partner with the local organizations to ensure that the workload is reduced to some relative levels. Provision of much needed resources would also form the basis of alliances. At times, an organization can be trained in terms of resources and technical capacity. By partnering with other organizations, the pressure is reduced and efficiency is enhanced. Through the valuable alliances that Charity Alliance would adopt, there would be a basis for future operations. The mandate could also be expanded further to ensure that many people are reached with the service. To this end, it is critical to note that, the charity alliance would vet the individual organizations seeking alliances and out of those the best option would be arrived at (Fonjong, 2007).
