Dear Sir/Ma’am,
I would like to inform you as my employer beforehand, as well as formally apologize for my recent actions in which I was arrested for Driving while Intoxicated/Evading Arrest Detention this past February 16th, 2013. As of the moment I have bailed myself out and have sought legal assistance with an attorney. I am perfectly aware that my actions are inexcusable and nowhere near exemplary and that there are repercussions which I will be willing to answer to.
However, I wish to stress the fact that this event has taught me a very valuable lesson and that I would be utterly grateful if you would let me continue offering my services as a Fire fighter. I have worked really hard in order to achieve what I have today and would really appreciate it if you would weigh the more respectable things I have done rather than this one mistake. I understand that what I did will not serve good example for my co-workers, but be rest assured that I will treat it as a learning experience and become an even better person and employee because of it.
In order to address this problem and prevent future issues I am willing to give up drinking or at least ensure that the next time I do so, there will be a designated driver who can take me home. If I may add, what happened was very out of character and I can assure you that I have not had any other legal issues (aside from speeding).
I have written this apology because I value our professional relationship as well as the integrity of my job as a fire fighter. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
