Woods, S. B., H. M. Farineau, and L. M. Mcwey. "Physical Health, Mental Health, and Behaviour Problems among Early Adolescents in Foster Care." Child: Care, Health and Development Child Care Health Dev 39.2 (2011): 220-27. Web.
The article touches upon the investigation of foster care and chronic illnesses as the prerequisites to health problems, particularly, delinquency and externalizing behaviour. The authors used statistic data from the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-Being and information from different reports in order to test their hypothesis that depression increases the aggravation of health. As a result, their hypothesis was confirmed by statistics: chronic illnesses and depression may cause more problems of internalizing and externalizing behaviour and more delinquent acts. The researchers have made a conclusion that adolescents in foster care must take into consideration complex interrelation of physical, mental health and behaviour. Consequently, this sphere requires profound study, healthcare systems and services, which will help people in such situations.
