Working as a supply chain manager has been one of my best chances to gain more experiences. In this career, I have come to learn more skills and how to apply them in my day to day life scenarios. Essentially, I have various strengths in this field that do not only motivate me towards improving my proficiency, but also form the basis of envisaging outstanding performance. However, I also have some flaws which affect my performance negatively. In this light, below is the evaluation of my standards in various activities in regard to supply chain management.
Customer service (outstanding)
In terms of customer service, I would consider myself to have outstanding skills. Some of my most outstanding skills include persuasiveness, convincing power, and creative the ability to handle customers from different backgrounds. The most salient section of this job is that one gets to interact with many people from various settings. I have learned to be attentive to my clients and develop an immense appreciation of their views. I can provide solutions to their problems in such a way that most of them have become loyal customers. I want to boost my skills through benchmarking, interacting with external professionals in the same field, and actively participating in further professional training.
Professionalism/Work Habits (outstanding)
In regard to professionalism, am also outstanding. In supply chain management professionalism is considered as one of the important factors. Personally, time management is one of my most important strength. Actually, in this case my colleagues consider me as a role model to them. In addition to this, I also ensure that my physical presentation is beyond reproach. In most cases, I always ensure that my clothing is essentially official so as to achieve the right professional presentation.
Job knowledge (outstanding)
As a supply chain manager, I have knowledge not only in managing but also in other departments such as customer relations and public relations. I acquired these skills with the orientation that the customer is always the king in a business scenario. As such, understanding how the customer should be handled to achieve satisfaction was a primary goal in my career development. Actually, I have a tendency to share my skills with my colleagues in these departments and sometimes work from there. This tendency helps to ensure that my skills are still valid.
Risk Management (perform to expectations)
In regard to risk management, I perform to expectation. I am always aware of the factors that expose the organization to risky situations. One of my strengths in this area relates to futuristic planning. In addition, I plan with restraint and cautions such that nothing is left to chance. However, I have not been looking at ways of improving some critical situations associated to risk.
Quality of work (outstanding)
In this regard, I always cherish and prioritize quality over quantity. It has always been my view that a professional should meet the expected standards no matter the circumstances in which they are. This is based on the idea that results are important than mere excuses as to why the expected results were not achieved. I always make sure that my seniors do not need to review my work since it is in accordance with the professional guiding principles and the company’s standard procedures. Importantly, I also cherish innovation and change whereby I involve myself in designing new products with the aim to reduce cost and increase output.
Quantity of work (performs to expectations)
In this case, I always work toward achieving my targets. In addition, I am open to doing extra work after all my targets are achieved. Proper planning and appropriate time scheduling are the skills which help me in accomplishing the required quantity of my work. In order to ensure that the targets are achieved, value chain mapping will play a salient role. This helps to avoid time wastage since unnecessary steps in the supply process are eliminated.
Communication (Outstanding)
Communication is also very important in supply chain management since it increases productivity, helps to avoid glitches occasioned by misunderstanding and duplication of roles, and encourages teamwork. Essentially, I am endowed with excellent communication skills. For example, I use a collaborative approach when solving issues within the organization. I do not try to make decision for people to follow; instead, I involve them in the decision making process. This implies that they are always aware of what is expected and how to achieve it. Importantly, I also capitalize on making follow-ups in order to ensure that every process is handled as expected.
Leadership (outstanding)
In regard to leadership, I perform outstandingly. In this regard, I have the capability to inspire a common vision especially when working in a team. In addition, I ensure that the team has a common objective to achieve despite their different priorities. I am also good at inspiring people and motivating them in the course of the team operations.
Well-Being (outstanding)
I am a firm believer of the idea that humans must work to ensure they healthy and strong. As such, I always emphasize on the need to conduct physical exercises immediately after they leave work.
Cultural Competence (outstanding)
I understand the importance of diversity and the fact that an organization must learn to involve all people regardless of their origin, religion, race or ethnicity. In this light, therefore, I am capable of working with anybody regardless of their believes of cultural orientations.
