Future success of rock and roll
The four artists I believe will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in about 25 years are Beyonce, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, and Taylor swift. This may be supported by their contribution, endurance (remaining relevant), popularity, and success in the music industry.
Beyonce has achieved tremendous success in her solo music career since 2002 when she released the album Dangerously in Love (Lamb n.p.). The album reached the number one spot in both the U.S. and the U.K. The album has since sold more than 4 million and 8 million copies in the U.S. and worldwide respectively (Lamb n.p.). Some of her other achievements and awards include are being the first African-American woman to have won the Songwriter of the Year award from ASCAP, and being the first female musical artist to have a number one album concurrently in the U.K. and in the U.S (Lamb n.p.). Overall she has achieved 17 Grammy Awards and has sold more than 75 million records globally (Lamb n.p.).. She has produced five albums in her solo career with the fifth called self-titled having been released on November 24, 2014 (Lamb n.p.). With such kind of contribution, popularity, success, and consistency, I believe that she will surely be inducted in the Rock and Roll hall of fame.
Chris Brown is the second artist I believe will be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. This is due to his popularity, contributions, and consistency in the music industry. In 2005, he produced the song “Run It” which took the number one spot on the Bill Board Hot 100 which made him the first male artist to lead the charts through a debut single (Rovi, n.p.). His popularity and contributions were exhibited by him becoming one of the greatest pop stars by the time the decade ended. He has since produced six albums with successful singles like “Yo,” “Kiss Kiss,” and “No Air.” His album F.A.M.E. in 2012 won him a Grammy Award in 2012 as the top RnB album the year (Rovi, n.p.). His album “X,” was released on September 16, 2014 and took the second spot on the US billboard 200 (Rovi, n.p.). With this kind of consistent achievement in the industry for the 25 year-old, he surely has a great chance of getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I believe that Katy Perry will be third artist who may be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is because she has contributed to the music industry with many immensely popular songs, and has also been very consistent in producing great music since she started. Significant success came for her when she released the popular single “I Kissed a Girl (Hudson n.p.).” The single was a chart topper in summer 2008, and the song’s success made her debut album enter into the top 10 chart of the Billboard top 100 (Hudson n.p.). The song also made her a Grammy Award nominee. Her album “Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection” released in 2012 was a success and had popular singles like “Wide Awake (Hudson n.p.).” Her album prism released in 2013 had songs like “Roar” and “Dark Horse” which were also chart toppers (Hudson n.p.). This kind of achievement within such a short span is an indicator that she is likely to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the future (Hudson n.p.).
The fourth artist I believe may be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in the future as earlier mentioned is Taylor Swift. Her first album self-titled made her get a Grammy nomination in 2008 for the Best New Artist (Pastorek, n.p.). Fearless, her second album was such a great success that it won four Grammy Awards making the youngest artist in history to ever win the Album of the Year award. Speak now which was her second album had the song “Mean” winning her two Grammy Awards. Her third album Red released in 2012 and had global hits like “We Are Never Getting Back Together” (Pastorek, n.p.). Her fifth album 1989 sold more copies than any other in the history of 12 years making her the first artist to have sold over a million copies in a week from three albums (Pastorek, n.p.). Her awards include twelve Billboard awards and seven Grammy awards, reflecting her impact in the music industry. The popularity of her music is also evidenced by her having the highest digital sales of singles in the history of music. Evidently, her popularity and contribution may also make her to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the future.
