Section 1: Description
Using data to drive customer experience was the topic of discussion during the master’s seminar I attended within the institution’s premises. The seminar was mainly concerned with the strategies that a business could use to increase the level of customer loyalty as a way of boosting the sales and revenues. During the seminar, the speaker was very precise on the importance of a business becoming more oriented towards building a long-lasting and effective customer value proposition. Additionally, the speaker talked about establishing a scheme for operating performance transformation in the sector of supply chain and clients care. The business should be oriented in such a way that the clients find easy to carry out their transactions, and the sales team goal should be the provision of effective and reliable support to the commercial colleagues. The speaker also talked about the significance of aligning the firm’s information to the hierarchy of the organisation and separating the main drivers of performance from the trifling many.
Section 2: Reflection
During the seminar, the speaker discussed the structure of the supply chain where the ordering process of the business was supposed to be simpler as compared to that of its competitors. The speaker also highlighted the importance of electronic data interchange that included connection of the client information system to achieve efficient operation. Moreover, the design of an effective supply chain involved the enhancing of the consignment processes for a reliable inventory, the introduction of an easy and simple return process and ensuring clients received a responsive and effective technical support.
During the seminar, I learned that how to separate the main drivers of performance in the firm beginning with data availability followed by performance governance among others. Data is a vital aspect of the organisation and needs to be delivered in a timely manner to the right individual consistently. In order to make informed decisions that direct and quantify the achievement in the firm, data needs to be availed at the right time because a single implementation of a process can lead to great benefits.
Section 3: Relevance to the Course
Masters in International Business, the course that I am presently pursuing, is related to this seminar because it equipped me with skills significant business strategies needed to achieve success. This seminar will assist me to gain the necessary skills required to carry in venturing into international business considering the many uncertainties. Therefore, I will be in a position to implement favourable decisions that will help to drive the business forward, and gain a competitive advantage over competitors (Simchi-Levi, 2005). Moreover, the aspect of maintaining an effective supply chain will be helpful in the development of worldwide supply networks and supplier relations, a concept that will assist in influencing decisions on both the functional and the tactical level of business management.
Section 4: Comments
First, I would like to pass my utmost gratitude to the speaker for organising the seminar, and for delivering such an inspiring speech that will no doubt be helpful in my studies. What I learned will assist me even after completing my studies to achieve more in international business, as I will have the confidence and the skills to venture into the various sectors. However, I would like to request the institution to frequently organise such constructive talks to equip people with the skills needed in the competitive global market.
