Introduction
Employee motivation is the level of creativity, energy and also commitment which the workers of an entity contribute towards their jobs. Whether the entity is growing or even shrinking, the articulation of the manners to motivate workers has always remained a concern for the management. Banks (1997) mentions that competing theories on the aspect have emphasized either employee empowerment or the provision of incentives. Ideally, people often perform better in work environments that are more creative and as a result, they will harbor feelings of accomplishment. It happens when a company has a well-structured reward, as well as, recognition programs for its employees. In relation to the above, the first part of this article will introduce the aspect of motivation and the importance it culminates to upon its practice. The motivation of the workforce has enormous significance to the population at the workplace. The first aspect to be mentioned is its enhancement of employee productivity that consequently assists in the achievement of the goals, as well as, the aspirations of the business. Basically, those who have a drive to perform will, in fact, search for better and improved ways of producing quality assignments in manners that are most efficient in the best ways possible. By this, it means that a motivated workforce would lead to a higher value and thus massive levels of desirable achievements within the entity. In this sphere, motivation can also lead to innovation when doing duties in the workplace as stated by Lauby (2005). This is because motivation results in the availability of notable opportunities that can be harnessed for the achievement of desirable results.
Motivation will also contribute towards a better community. It is because a motivated employees culminate to a happy people thus enhancing the betterment of the society in general. Also, it is every company’s desire to release their products as fast as possible to the market. Having a motivated workforce, therefore, drastically reduced the release cycles of the product with all these making the concept a very significant one for any industry.
Conducting research on employee motivation is a significant step towards the achievement of the benefits that have been mentioned above. Basically, Korzynski (2013) writes that to accomplish the research in the required manners, setting up the objectives that would act as the guiding principles is very essential. The first objective of the research would determine the costs on the company that is associated with employee motivation. In most cases, motivation would involve the provision of incentives to the employees of an entity. Having a guideline on the costs that would be encountered is important because it limits one from operating in oblivion and possibly having a method of motivation that is not sustainable by a company.
The second objective of the research on motivation would be to determine the level of satisfaction of the employees based on the ideologies of employee motivation. This is because different methods of motivation would lead differing satisfactory levels. Therefore, determining this satisfactory level would be of the essence in knowing which of the methods being applied are having major impacts on the workforce. Lastly, an objective to find out the impacts on the job performance would be conducted. In most cases, the performance of the work is deemed to improve as a result of the motivational principles on employees. The research will, therefore, try proving this assertion that in deed the performance levels of the employees do increase.
Ho: There is no existence of an association between the motivation of workforce and the organizational development.
Ha: There is an existing association between the motivation of the workforce and the development of the entity.
Research Methodology
The first aspect of the research would be to gather the data that would be used. A significant element here would be to first perform a literature review to find the deductions of various scholars regarding the theory of employee motivation. (Kothari, 2004, p. 34) Besides, the other primary way that the data to be used in this research would be gathered would be through the use of questionnaires which should be issued to the employees of Aramco Company. This questionnaire would be split into four significant parts encompassing:
When administering the questionnaires in Aramco Company that would aid in the study, interviews can also be performed as it is a good way of getting firsthand information. Prompt questions should be asked to the employees of Aramco Company to find their views. In gathering this information, secondary sources can also be efficiently used to arrive at the required deductions. Of particular importance here would be the electronic sources such as the internet. Information can also be got from journals and published newspapers. One should realize that the reliability of the information got at this level is very significant in determining where the data got from the research can be trusted. (Kumar, 2005, p. 121)
Notably, the data and information that will be collected from the Aramco Company will be in a very bulky format in the form of interview transcripts and those of the questionnaire and even the spreadsheets containing numerical data. Therefore, putting them in a manner that would facilitate their reporting is very significant for the achievement of the goals of the research. Therefore, reporting should be conducted in a standardized manner so that the users of the research or even the one who conducted it would not have to peruse through numerous information for purposes of making the comparison. This is aided by the utility of diagrams, graphs and even tables. Besides, having lists of numerical figures will help in putting up a strong argument regarding the motivational aspects of the company under study.
The data that would have been gathered above would require their analysis. In this sphere, Boeije (2010) asserts that determination of the patterns, similarities, as well as, differences and also the directions amongst the articles that are to be used in the research should be done. The data from the questionnaire should be put into perspective in the determination of the actual scope of operations of the Aramco Company. Regression and also correlation analysis can be used in testing the reliability, as well as, the validity of the motivation of the workers and also the satisfaction of the customers of the entity. These methodologies can also be utilized in the analysis of both the independent and the dependent variables of the company which in this case are the organizational vision and the customer satisfaction respectively.
Finally, an application of ethics should also be incorporated in the research. Ethics when conducting research will ensure that the rights of the respondents are maintained while getting their views regarding the motivational aspect of companies. Some of the ethical issues that should be upheld in carrying out this research include voluntary participation, confidentiality, anonymity and the requirement of informed consent.
