Introduction: Traffic jams and pollution are one of the biggest problems on the road today. With 43,500 employees, our company is the biggest contributor to this problem in our county. We conducted a survey to look at some of the transportation habits of our employees and find solutions to reduce them.
Employee carpool habits: As shown in the Pie chart, 64 percent of the workforce never uses a carpool. This is a big problem and a major contributor to the traffic.
Use of Public Transport: 54 percent employees use public transport every day which is a healthy sign. But the problem persists as 28 percent or 12, 053 employees never use public transport.
Effect of Potential Improvements to Public Transportation: When asked what improvement would encourage an employee to use public transport frequently, 46 percent answered nothing can encourage them to change their habits to use public transport. The employees were asked to choose multiple options for the question. These employees may have some bad impression about public transport and should be encouraged to use public transport at least occasionally.
Is telecommuting an Option? The answer to this question is understandable. Since most employees need to be on the office floor, 43 percent said, “No.”
Solution1: The company should encourage carpooling options as we can see 64 percent employees never use a car pool. There are various software applications that help figure out colleagues on the same way. The software is integrated to the normal email system and makes it user friendly.
Solution 2: The Company can look at exclusive buses to carry employees from home to workplace.
Conclusion: Every city is fighting with the traffic jam, pollution, and waste of valuable time. All organizations should encourage their employees for carpooling, using public transport, and work from home if possible. These are best ways to reduce the cost of commutation and also make the world greener.
