August Compte as the Father of Sociology
August Compte as the Father of Sociology
Born in Montpellier, Compte saw the way of the society was organised during his time and developed interested in knowing the relationship between the society and its laws. In the University of Montpellier, he became much preoccupied with the issues around the French revolution. He was loaded with the imaginations about a society that could become so powerful to overthrow a powerful dynasty. He later dropped out of school and started studying on his own. His main argument was that physical sciences like mathematics and physics must incorporate other antidotes that use the same principles that bring on focus the understanding of the society Lee, (2016). He went ahead to call the antidotes the social sciences and later used a general term to sum them up as sociology. In fact, he is the first person to introduce the term in his known book of “Positive Philosophy”
Literature Review
According to Martindale, (2013) sociology is more concerned about the way of people’s organization of the society than what they do in that society. On the other hand, Fortunato, Macy & Redner, (2013) makes a meticulous analysis on relating the physical sciences and social sciences. The trio believed that the two lines of sciences relate and are contingent to each other to fabricate a holistic society. Lee, (2016) wraps it up by saying that the physical sciences need some cures that only sociology can provide.
Hypotheses
These are the hypotheses that this work intends to test. First, August Compte is not the father or Sociology. Secondly, Sociology contains comprehensive antidotes to physical sciences. Finally, Physical sciences like mathematics and physics are contingent to sociology.
Research Design and Data Collection
This work will depend on the documented literature by the scholars of social sciences. The main tool of research will be Google scholar due its logical representation of data from various scholars. For instance, the work by Lee, (2016) will be important since the research will assume descriptive analysis. In his work, Lee describes the fundamental transition and unity between sociology and physical sciences
