Justification of the study
The world is indeed moving towards a becoming a global image and as a result, more nations, especially neighboring countries, have been greatly encourage to establish strong relationships and mutual working environments. This will not only see the residents of both countries coexist freely but will also greatly contribute towards creating a peaceful world, where people are concerned about their colleagues, irrespective of the race, gender, ethnicity or nationality (Lahn, Stevens, & Royal Institute of International Affairs, 2011). Iran and Saudi Arabia are two neighboring states in Asia and thus their continuously deteriorating diplomatic relations is not only a matter of the affected nations but a concern for the entire world. There ought to be a concrete strategy, backed by al nations of the world towards creating peace between the two nations.
Apparently, Saudi Arabia and Iran are among the world’s leading producers of oil. However, the rift between Saudi Arabia and Iran has greatly affected the oil prices on the global markets; at one point, oil is abundantly available on the market and thus low prices. At another incidence, oil becomes so scarce that the prices shoot sky high (Czinkota, & 2007). In fact, the fluctuating oil prices can largely be attributed towards the rift between the two nations. It has been stated that Iran, being against America’s dominance on the Middle East oil market, has resorted hoarding the commodity to drive away America from the Middle East. In order to create stable oil markets, then there must be peace between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Hence this study is intended to establish possible approaches towards a peaceful Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Islam has to a large extent been associated to such vices as extremism and terrorism. This isn’t true at all. Islam is a religion that worships true God according to the Islamic culture, faith and teachings. The tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran to some extent has contributed to the blackmail meted against Islam as a religion. The tension and rifts between two nations, especially the animosity between Shia and the Hamas has actually contributed to this. While Shia blames Hamas of extremism, Hamas on the other hand has blamed the rising rate of terrorism on the antagonistic group Hamas (Simmons, 2013). In a nut shell, each of the two opposing groups is entangled in a blame game, branding the other of numerous atrocities associated with the Islamic faith.
In essence, the numerous conflicts and wrangles between the two nations form the large bulk of this paper. In fact, the study is intended as a conflict analysis and resolution towards solving the stalemate between the affected nations. There can be no peace in the world when Iran is threatening to engage in production of nuclear weapons as defensive weaponry against Saudi Arabia. Consequently, industrialization in the entire world greatly depends on oil as the major prime move. In this case, the entire economy of the world is threatened by the unending feuds between these two nations. This study is thus deeply founded in establishing some of the perceived causes of feuds, conflicts, animosity and diplomatic rifts between Saudi Arabia and Iran with a view of proposing some strategies to restore peace between the two nations.
Justification for use of an interdisciplinary Approach
The feud and harsh relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran is not a recent issue, it has been in existent for quite a long period of time. This doesn’t actually indicate failure of the related disciplines to solve the issue but rather depicts the need to change tact and approach towards the issue at hand. Interdisciplinary approach is thus justified fir allocation in this study for two major reasons. The initial one is that the issue has soon become an unresolved societal need and thus drawing the attention of the entire world (Westelius, & International Monetary Fund, 2013). When Iran threatens to produce nuclear weaponry, it’s not only Saudi Rabi that is at stake, the entire world ought to take precaution. Similarly, when Islam is blamed for extremis and terrorism, it’s not only the Muslims in Saudi Arabia and Iran that are feel insulted, the entire Muslim faith followers feel offended and blackmailed. Hence the fact that the stalemate between this two nations has stayed for so long calls for the attention of the entire world, a crucial societal issue it is.
Another justification to engage an interdisciplinary approach owes to the fact that the issue of the rift between Iran and Saudi Arabia can be effectively tacked by two disciplines, international relations as well as conflict analysis and resolutions. International relations as a discipline are majorly concerned with creating favorable atmosphere for mutual existence between nations of the world. Conflict analysis and resolution on the other hand deals with identification, analysis and solutions to detractor of the efforts of international relations (Cordesman, 2003). A combination of these two broad disciplines is bound to yield fruit in solving the conflicts between the two nations.
