Internal Dynamics
Internal dynamics are very important in the strategic future of Riordan and the implementation of its strategic plan. Strategic management of Riordan is the responsibility of its management team. It should seek to achieve the company’s competitive advantage and use them to optimize internal resources. Riordan's competitive advantages include its ability to diversify its products while keeping their quality high. They have also managed to sustain innovation by coming up with unprecedented plastic products that satisfy the consumers' needs at reasonable prices. The company's employees are the strongest internal resource that it possesses. The management is responsible for ensuring that employees are provided with an optimal environment in which they can work freely and exhibit their creativity. For a company whose competitive advantage includes innovation, the creativity of its workforce is significant in ensuring that it continues to react positively to the demands of its customer, both current and potential. The employees should, therefore, be provided with the necessary skills and resources that will allow them to take their roles and propel the Riordan to a higher growth level.
Riordan's brand is also turning out to be a significant portion of its competitive advantage. The brand is associated with some different plastic items that are used in various sectors and for various uses in the society. The company’s brand name draws royalty among the customers as its products are associated with high quality. Riordan's long term strategy will, therefore, involve ensuring that it continues to draw popularity to the brand to aid its international expansion strategy (Grant, 2013). Internal strategic plans will also involve improving technology to ensure that the R&D department can make further steps especially in the manufacture of medical components.
Cultural and Structural Leadership
Riordan’s organizational culture is anchored on the principles of team oriented working environment, innovation and provision of solutions to the customers' problems through its high quality products. These cultural, organizational principles are vital in ensuring that the strategic plan is successfully implemented to the benefit of Riordan. Riordan's employees must maintain teamwork to realize the company's innovation and product quality goals. Then again structural leadership is responsible for ensuring that it provides directions to their respective areas of jurisdiction and to the organization at large to attain the set goals of the organization. Leadership is very important in strategic management since it is expected to not only provide direction to the company but also to demonstrate to the stakeholders what should be undertaken to realize the desired results. Leaders should always lead by example and allow others below them to contribute their ideas that will improve the organization.
Strategic Decisions
The decisions made for this strategic plan are anchored on the purpose for Riordan’s existence, i.e. its mission and vision. The decisions are as well anchored on Riordan’s current and distant organizational objectives. This is critical in ascertaining that the organization does not concentrate on one goal while the other one is neglected. The short term goals should be achieved to provide the stepping stones for achieving the long-term strategic goals (Grant, 2013). The decisions have also considered the dynamism that exists in both the within environment and the without environment of the Riordan. For instance, the company’s strategic expansion plans have to consider its competitive advantages and how they will affect internationalization of the company (Grant, 2013).
