The World Trade Organization is an international organization established January 1, 1995 for the purpose of international trade liberalization and regulation of trade and political relations between the Member States. Formed on the basis of the WTO General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), concluded in 1947 and for almost 50 years in fact act as an international organization, but is not, however, an international organization in the legal sense.
The articles reviewed are about tasks and purposes of WTO. WTO task is to assist in streamlining the trading process in the system, a rules-based, objective settlement of trade disputes between governments, organizations of trade negotiations. At the heart of this activity are 60 WTO agreements - the basic legal standards policy of international commerce and trade. The principles underlying these agreements include non-discrimination (most-favored- nation status and national treatment), more free trade conditions, the promotion of competition, and additional provisions for the least developed countries. One of the goals of the WTO is to fight protectionism.
Since its inception, the WTO provides a forum for successful negotiations on opening markets in telecommunications, information technology equipment and financial services. She has participated in more than 200 settlements of trade disputes, and continues to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached in the Uruguay Round of world trade negotiations 1986-1994. In 2001 in Doha (Qatar) of the WTO launched a new round of multilateral trade negotiations, known as the Agenda for Development, adopted in Doha. The organization is trying to complete negotiations on the Doha round of negotiations, which began with a clear focus on the needs of developing countries. As of December 2012 the future of the Doha Round is uncertain: the program of work consists of 21 parts, and initially set the deadline for January 1, 2005 was passed long ago. During the talks, there was a conflict between the desire to free trade and the desire of many countries to protectionism, especially in terms of agricultural subsidies Until now, these remain major obstacles and hinder any progress to launch new negotiations under the Doha Round. As of July 2012, there are different groups of negotiations in the WTO system to address current issues in terms of agriculture, leading to stagnation in the negotiations themselves.
