The speaker examines the way micronutrients, diet, sleep, exercise, and heat stress can alter one’s genetic expression as well as the way one’s body ages and functions (Rhonda, 2015). In the video, Rhoda discusses how human genes influence the way the body absorbs and metabolizes micronutrients. Nutrigenomics is concerned with the way genetic variations influence absorption and metabolism of micronutrients as well as the effects of this dynamic relationship.
According to Rhoda, the diet also plays a significant role in determining the genes that are turned off or on. According to Rhoda Patrick, the emerging evidence in the epigenetics field demonstrates that humans can change their genetic expressions at some point in their lifetime. In some cases, the changes can be inherited and passed on from one generation to another.
Many people in the developing countries do not have an adequate intake of essential minerals and vitamins, which are widely used as cofactors of some of the enzymes involved in the metabolism process. Accordingly, a balanced diet should provide the human body with adequate minerals and vitamins. However, most people in the developed countries have a high intake of refined foods that lack minerals and vitamins. The proteins that are required for the long-term health of a person are starved on the vitamins and the minerals (Rhonda, 2015). These patients play an important role in slowing down the aging process.
Rhoda is an expert who engages in investigations concerning the effects of micronutrients deficiencies on metabolism, DNA damage, inflammation, and the aging process among people. The aim of the talk is to encourage people to think about longevity and health using both preventive and proactive approaches.
